Nichole Hart, manager of a Walmart store in Waco, Texas, has become a sensation after it was revealed in a recent report that she makes $240,000 a year from her job at Walmart. She is one of 4,700 Walmart store managers in the US who are being offered higher pay as the job becomes demanding with managers having to take care of both e-commerce as well as retail operations.
A profile of Hart was recently done by the Wall Street Journal which revealed that while Hart makes roughly $240,000 as a manager, some others could make as much as $400,000, as Walmart is now offering better pay to employees, including stock options and bonuses.
The trend saw an uptick in the company's desire to retain efficient employee even as their responsibility increases with increase in Walmart's profits. Hart revealed to the Wall Street Journal that last year she was paid $119,000 in salary and roughly $120,000 as bonus.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Hart has been working at Walmart for over 20 years. She started as Co Manager at the Walmart store in Waco, Texas in 2004 and continued in that role till 2018. In March 2018, she was appointed the store manager of the facility, a position she holds even today. She is a 40-year-old mother of two, according to the Wall Street Journal report.
She revealed to the Wall Street Journal that she was looking for a job for people without a college degree after she graduated from high-school and landed in a part-time role at the Waco-based Walmart in 2004. Gradually, she rose through the ranks and now runs the facility vas a manager.
“That’s when I realized, this might not be my favorite job, but I can develop pictures or manage clothing at Walmart. I can get promoted,” Hart told WSJ. “I figured out I was good at this, and it was something achievable for me.”
