When a buyer wins the bid and its low, do I have to accept the offer. YES, you are required to sell to the winning bidder of an auction since their bid met your minimum bid price
bid price
A bid price is the highest price that a buyer (i.e., bidder) is willing to pay for some goods. It is usually referred to simply as the "bid". In bid and ask, the bid price stands in contrast to the ask price or "offer", and the difference between the two is called the bid–ask spread.
It is eBay who will "accept" a bid (as opposed to a Best Offer) if it is a valid bid at the time it is received (e.g. meets the minimum bid amount, the bidder is not blocked by your Blocked Bidder/Buyer List or your Buyer Requirements, the bidder is within his/her buying limits).
U won the bid, u won't pay, eBay will submit an unpaid strike against you, simple as that, and that might hurt your buying on eBay, as sellers can filter out buyers that have unpaid strikes against them. Remember, sellers are not required to cancel on behalf of buyers. A bid is a commitment to buy if successful.
Until the listing ends the seller has the ability to cancel your bid. If your bid stands & you win the item, the seller is expected to complete the transaction.
If you'd like to accept the offer, select Accept offer and proceed to checkout to complete your purchase. If you're not interested in the offer, select Decline offer. You can also make a counteroffer if you'd like to negotiate a better price.
Unfortunately Ebay can't force a seller to mail the item you won. They do however get charged a fee for cancelling the transaction and they get a strike against their selling account. Too many cancellations and they are bumped off Ebay.
There are several reasons why a seller may wish to cancel a bid rather than it being simply because of the amount of the bid level obtained. Up until the bidding closes, sellers can cancel any and all bids at their discretion.
Home sellers aren't obligated to accept any offer on their home—no matter how much money it's for. 1 There may be other offers on the table or, in some cases, they may want to hold out for more money.
Sellers have grandiose ideas about what their home is worth. Sellers might prefer buyers who meet specific financing requirements. Preferred closing time frames may not be aligned between buyer and seller. Your requests for repairs might be considered unreasonable by the seller.
In the end, it is up to the Organization running the auction to decide whether to honor the request. If the winning bidder would like to back out after the close of the auction, you can offer the item to the next highest bidder, or close the item as Not Sold.
I'll usually give a counteroffer and in the message say something like : "After shipping and ebay/paypal fees I would be left with X for my item (in same cases this has been zero or even less) because of that I am unable to accept your offer. This (the counteroffer) is the best I can do.
Sellers are not required to reply to offers from buyers. If your offer isn't accepted, you can always try to send a higher offer. The seller has the right to refuse or ignore any offers.
Ebay allows sellers to decline cancellation requests. Ebay will not cancel your purchase. You accepted the offer, so now you take responsibility for your mistake. Pay for the item if you have not already paid.
Remember, a bid is a binding contract. When you bid on an item in an auction, you're committing to buy it if you win. Our articles below will help answer any questions you have about auctions and tell you everything you need to know about how to bid on items.
