Netflix is the streaming service most committed to new movies and shows, but tomake room for the fresh stuff, some of the content you've always wanted to watch—and have had on your to-watch list for months—have to be taken off of the service.
That's because Netflix doesn't own everything it streams. The contracts it has with networks, production companies, and movie studios mean that their programming comes and goes all the time. So each month, we keep you up to date with a list of what's leaving. We'll highlight our top choices for what you should view in September before they're gone, and below that we'll share the full list.
Beverly Hills Cop (Sept. 3)
It's sort of curious that Netflix released the new Beverly Hills Cop sequel, Axel F, just a few months ago, but they're letting the original two films leave. One of Eddie Murphy's breakthrough movie roles, Beverly Hills Cop puts a fish out of water Detroit cop in Los Angeles to investigate the murder of an old friend. It still holds up as a brisk, funny, and well-plotted action movie.
Bodies Bodies Bodies (Sept. 19)
We're obviously in the middle of a new age of horror and horror-adjacent movies, and Bodies Bodies Bodies is one of the more satisfying entries in recent years. When a group of friends get together for a weekend getaway at a swanky summer house, what starts as a simple party game turns into a grisly and hilarious comedy of errors as corpses start to stack up and trust starts to fray. It's a lot of fun and will keep you guessing until the end.
Conan The Barbarian (Sept. 30)
Another stone-cold 1980s classic,Conan The Barbarian, gave young Arnold Schwarzenegger the role he was born to play, the muscular sword-swinger from Robert E. Howard's seminal series. When the cult of Thulsa Doom slaughters his parents, young Conan grows up with murder on his mind, setting out for bloody revenge after being strapped to the Wheel of Pain. Sweaty, bloody, and massively quotable, this one's a must-watch before it goes.
