What is the Venmo Debit Card?

The Venmo Mastercard® DebitCard is a debit card that operates on the Mastercard network.  It is linked to your Venmo account and allows you to spend your Venmo balance funds everywhere Mastercard is accepted in the U.S. and in U.S. territories.

How can I get the Venmo Debit Card?

Open the Venmo app, go to the Cards tab, and look under Venmo Debit Card to get started.

Once you’re able to apply for a Venmo Debit Card, we’ll need to confirm some of your personal information.

Does it cost money to apply for the Venmo Debit Card?

No! There is no fee to apply for a Venmo Debit Card. However, other fees may apply for the use of the card.

Apply for the card in the Venmo app. Go to the Cards tab and look under Venmo Debit Card to get started.

Can I order more than one Venmo Debit Card? Can I add an additional card for someone else to my Venmo account? 

The Venmo Debit Card links to your Venmo account. You can only have 1 active Venmo Debit Card associated with your Venmo account, and it must be in the name associated with the account. 

I am only seeing “Get in Line” what should I do?

The Venmo Debit Card is currently available to most of our users, and we are actively working on making it available to everyone. If you see the “Get in Line” message, it means you aren’t yet able to apply for a Venmo Debit Card buthold tight! You don’t need to do anything else, and we'll notify you via email when it's your turn to apply.

Our Support team does not have the ability to expedite this process. In the meantime, make sure to verify your phone number.

Why do I have to provide my personal information (including SSN)?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW CARD ACCOUNT: To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens a Card Account.

What this means for you: When you open a Card Account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see a copy of your driver’s license or other identifying documents.

When you are applying for the card make sure to use your home address and not work address or P.O. Box so that we are able to verify your identity.

How long will it take to get my Venmo Debit Card?

Once approved, your Venmo Debit Card should arrive within 10 business days. The card can only be sent to a home address at this time. If more than 10 business days have passed and you have still not received your card, please contact us.

Where can I use my Venmo Debit Card?

Everywhere Mastercard is accepted in the U.S. and in U.S. territories.

Please note Venmo and the Venmo Debit Card cannot be used with international merchants, even if you are placing an online order from the U.S.

Are there any limits for using my Venmo Debit Card?

Venmo Mastercard Debit Card transactions are subject to additional limits:

  • $2,999.99 per purchase limit

  • $3000.00 daily purchase limit (resets at 12am CT)
  • $7000.00 weekly purchase limit
  • ATM withdrawals, over the counter withdrawals, and cash back daily limit: $1,000.00 (this limit resets daily at 12:00 AM CST)
  • Transaction Limit: 30 transaction per day (this limit resets daily at 12:00 AM CST)

You can find your pending and completed purchases by going to the Me tab in your Venmo app.

Do I need to move money from my Venmo balance to my Venmo Debit Card?

The Venmo Debit Card uses the money in your Venmo balance, so there aren’t any extra steps you’ll need to take unless you want to add more money to your balance.

Can I use my Venmo Debit Card outside of the US?

The Venmo Debit Card may currently only be used in the U.S. and U.S. territories, at U.S. merchants for transactions in USD. Please note Venmo and the Venmo Debit Card cannot be used with international merchants, even if you are placing an online order from the U.S.

Can I use my Venmo Debit Card on Google Pay or Apple Pay?

Yes, you can add your Venmo Debit Card or Venmo Teen Debit Card to Apple Pay and Google Pay digital wallets. Tap the digital wallet icon in the Venmo Debit Card section of the app.

Keep the fees in mind

The Venmo card does not charge an application fee or annual fee to use the card. And since you can only spend what's available in your Venmo account, you won't incur overdraft or late payment fees. There may, however, be transaction fees associated with your card.
