Set up your app's prices (2024)

You can set your app as free or paid, update your app’s pricing universally or per country, and use pricing templates to simplify pricing for your apps in Play Console.

Note: After you publish an app or update, including price changes, adding SKUs, or making changes to your app’s distribution settings, it can take a few hours for your changes to be shown on Google Play.

Sub-dollar pricing expansion in 20 markets

In February 2021, we reduced the minimum price limit for products in 20 more markets across Latin America, EMEA, and APAC. You can now set lower price rates in these markets, allowing you to reach new potential buyers by adjusting your pricing to better reflect local purchasing power and demand.

Changes to your app's Free or Paid selection

  • You can change your app from paid to free.
  • Once your app has been offered for free, the app can't be changed to paid. If you want to charge for the app, you need to create a new app with a new package name and set a price.

Enter a price

When you offer paid apps, in-app products, and subscriptions on Google Play, a service fee applies.

Note: If you aren't distributing your app in a country that you enter a price for, users won’t have access to it.

Paid apps

  2. Review our list of currencies and price ranges allowed by country.
  3. On the App pricing page in Play Console, enter a price.
    • We use the price you enter as the base for calculating market-specific prices. We'll convert your price to the local currency, add tax in select countries, and apply locally relevant pricing patterns and valid exchange rates for the date on which you set the price for your app. You can manually refresh the price to ensure that the local price reflects the latest exchange rate.
    • The price you enter will be used in all countries without local currency support. When a local currency isn’t supported, a price in USD or EUR is generated. Prices generated in USD or EUR are based on the price that you enter.

You can use pricing templates to set up or manage the same set of prices for multiple paid apps and in-app products. If you update a pricing template, all items linked to the template will use the template’s latest prices.

You can use up to 400 different pricing templates per developer account, and you can link up to 1,000 items to each pricing template.

Pricing template permission requirements

  • You need the Manage store presencepermission for each app you want to include in a pricing template.
  • To see all apps included in a pricing template, you need the View financial datapermissionfor each app.
  • If you can't edit a template that you created, check if someone added an app to the template you don't have permission to access.
