Configure audit log trimming

On the Site Settings page, under Site Collection Administration, click Site collection audit settings. On the Configure Audit Settings page, in the Audit Log Trimming section, set Automatically trim the audit log for this site? to Yes.

After the audit logs are purged successfully, the Audit Logs page refreshes automatically and displays only the audit logs that were not purged.

This tab is visible when the Audit Trail is opened from the Enterprise and the logged-in employee is associated with an Enterprise Role with the option, Purge Audit Trail, enabled. From this tab, the logged-in user can remove old records from the Audit Trail table in the database.
