This page details one or more prototype versions of Pizza Tower.

To do:
  • The Pizza Tower Wiki has some valuable information about the game's development, characters, builds, stages, etc. This may be useful here, considering chatlogs with attachments were wiped in early 2023.
  • Compile dates, which you can find here.
  • Steam playtest builds after Octobe22. Not yet, they haven't been released or leaked yet and probably aren't even allowed to be covered for now.
  • The Patreon Build archive in Internet Archive has a 09-27-2018 build that is a lot like ETB, but has some Pre-ETB mechanics. The time of this build suggests it's from a Post-ETB Pre-Tester era of development. Is this build an actual build, or not, and if so, where should this go? Apparently that build's fake. There are other builds from Internet Archive that need looking at, though.

Pizza Tower's development lasted almost 5 years, with many ideas coming and going. Most of these changes can be seen in various builds of demos and Patreon builds. A total of 18 demos were released publicly and around 45 Patreon builds were sent out to Patrons for testing and feedback. Additionally, around 27 playtester builds have been confirmed to exist; these weren't meant to be seen by the public and are only in the hands of very few playtesters, but a few have made their way out of the playtest zone, so far...

2019

To do:
Shouldn't March & April be merged? April, for all I know, is just March part 2. And if those 2 get merged, what about GOLF & Optimisation Test?

Scraps the separate towers idea for some much more streamlined fast-paced level design, with Desert, Mansion, and Factory. Also, health meter.

Two new levels, Freezer and Sewer, plus The Noise as a playable character!

Every other level is off limits as Desert gets its first (and certainly not last) rework. Peppino also got a few tweaks to his moveset, and he became nigh invulnerable again.

Every world up to that point, in a very (de)buggy state.

Rework
A playtest build compiled on September 25th, 2021.
Every level, gimmick, and even Peppino's moveset have been reworked in some way, mostly for the worse. Slopes abound!

2022

Eggplant
The final Patreon-exclusive build, with revisions compiled from June 13th - 14th, 2022.
A nearly completed version of the game with an 🍆 flavor.

Pizza Tower doesn't have traditional difficulty levels. Instead, its difficulty is almost entirely self-serve. It's as hardcore as you want it to be. Peppino has inherited Wario's invincibility, so bumping into enemies only stuns him and hurts his combo meter (yes, there's a combo meter).
