Effective January 22, 2023 (and subject to approval by the Postal Regulatory Commission), Priority Mail ^® Regional Rate Boxes A and B will be discontinued, and the current pricing for these boxes will no longer be applicable.

Effective January 22, 2023, Regional Rate Box pricing has been discontinued. Remaining Regional Rate Boxes can still be used for shipping, but they will be treated as weight and rate packages.

The Postal Services is discontinuing several USPS-branded boxes and one variety pack of boxes. The Priority Mail medium box option 2 and Priority Mail DVD box will no longer be offered. The Priority Mail Express medium box option 1 is also being discontinued.

Regional Rate Box A allows you to ship a maximum of 15 pounds for domestic orders. Regional Rate Box A comes in two sizes: 10” x 7” x 4-¾” for top-loading boxes, and 10-15/16” x 2-⅜” x 12-13/16” for side-loading boxes. . Regional Rate Box B allows you to ship a maximum of 20 pounds.

Effective July 9, 2023, the United States Postal Service ^® (USPS ^®) eliminated Priority Mail Express ^® (PME ^®) Label 11-B. Customers who wish to ship PME items must choose one of the following available payment and shipping methods to create PME shipping labels: n Local Post Office™.

Although USPS discontinued the Regional Rate service and is no longer offering this type of packaging, if you still have some Regional Rate A or B boxes on hand you can use them just like any other free Priority Mail Mailing Box.

Reused packaging and boxes are only acceptable when all markings and labels are removed or completely blotted out. Regardless of what is actually inside your package, displayed markings or labels for hazardous materials may result in delivery delays or a package return.

“In specific locations where a blue box is a repeated crime target and/or mail density is very low, collection boxes may have to be removed entirely when access is not meaningfully diminished due to nearby access points,” USPS said in a statement.
