How many questions are on the Open Water exam? ›

The quizzes have 10 questions each and the PADI Open Water Exam has 50 questions. A lot of people worry about the exam, but I can tell you now that the PADI Open Water Exam questions are very easy. Especially if you have a great Dive Instructor, you will have nothing to worry about.

In this situation, you would use the alternate air source from your buddy's equipment and both of you would ascend to the surface together, sharing air. This is a common procedure for scuba divers known as the Buddy Breathing technique.

In order to complete your PADI Open Water Diver certification, you must complete academic training (Aquatic Adventures uses the PADI online Touch program), 5 confined water dives, and 4 open water dives.

You need to have basic swim skills and be able to comfortably maintain yourself in the water. Your PADI Instructor will assess this by having you: Swim 200 metres/yards (or 300 metres/yards in mask, fins and snorkel). There is no time limit for this, and you may use any swimming strokes you want.

A lot of people seem to worry about the open water exams, but they really don't need to. It's 50 questions multiple choice, and by the time you have to do it you will be fully prepared. Your instructor will talk to you about dive theory as part of the course, and you will cover everything that's in the exam.

The SSI Advanced Open Water program requires training and diving experience. To be certified as a SSI AOWD one needs to have completed four specialty courses and minimum of 24 logged dives.

How many times can students take the Final Exam? Students will be given two attempts to achieve a score of 75 percent or greater on the Final Exam. If the second attempt is not successful, students are directed to meet with their instructor to review any material they don't understand.

Your scuba diving certification is for life! However, diving regularly is highly recommended to maintain your dive skills and knowledge. Try to avoid long periods without diving (6 months or longer). If you haven't been scuba diving recently, you should take the PADI Reactivate Scuba Refresher.

Diving alone is strongly discouraged by many diving certification agencies, especially for those who do not have a dive master certificate or specialized training. Several training agencies, however, offer courses in solo or self-reliant diving.

In deep water, while wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt, you must float, tread water, or swim in place for ten minutes. In the final minute of the test you must put on a life vest while continuing to tread water. A ten-minute float test is valid for three years.

Can I scuba dive if I can't swim? ›

You don't have to know how to swim to dive because scuba gear will help you maintain positive buoyancy on the surface, and the fins will help you move forward. However, being a swimmer is a condition for obtaining the open water diver certification.

System, Standards and Procedures exam – 50 questions open book exam. You can use your PADI Instructor manual and PADI's Guide to Teaching manual to find your answers (if you really need to). You have 90 minutes to complete it. Passing score is 75%.

If you get less than 75% in one of the five sections you will be allowed to retake that section later in the IE. If you fail in 2 or more sections, or you fail the retake, you will have to attend a later PADI Instructor Exam and repeat all written exams again. The fee to do so is approx $200.

Many people worry the Advanced Open Water Diver course will be more difficult than the Open Water Diver course. The opposite is true (ask any advanced diver or instructor).
