Madara Uchiha was introduced in Naruto as one of the legendary figures of the Uchiha clan. Also known as the Ghost of the Uchiha, Madara returned later in the second half of the story and became the primary antagonist, that is, until his legacy was tainted by Black Zetsu stabbing him and using his body as a vessel to pave way for the return of Kaguya.

Madara is known to have been an excellent Shinobi and the only one in his time capable of matching him was Hashirama, his best friend and his rival. Madara, being an Uchiha, was blessed with the power of the Sharingan. While he was easily one of its very best users, second only to Sasuke, his eyes were rather strange as nobody knew what exactly their powers were.
How The Sharingan Powers Work
The Sharingan is an excellent ocular power, known to be a part of one of the Three Great Dojutsu in the world of Naruto, alongside the Byakugan and the Rinnegan. It is certainly more impressive than the Byakugan, making it the second-strongest eye out of all three. The Sharingan can be wielded by those of the Uchiha and also other people who have this eye transplanted into them. However, only an Uchiha can make proper use of the Sharingan. This eye allows the user to see even the most intricate of movements, hence, making them excellent at combat. The Sharingan does not miss any movement, be it super fast or a minute one.
When the Sharingan awakens all three tomoe, it is at its strongest. Along with the ability to see movements, The Sharingan also offers the ability to see through all forms of jutsu. It can easily deduce what kind of jutsu is being used and, consequently, copy them. Any Jutsu that isn't a hiden technique or a Kekkei Genkai can be copied by the Sharingan, making it an incredibly overpowered ability. This is why this eye is feared all over the world as well.
Perhaps, the biggest power of the Sharingan is its illusions. The Sharingan can trap anyone within a genjutsu with a mere glance of the eye. These jutsu vary in strength and depend on how powerful the user is. Some, such as Itachi, can cast a genjutsu by merely pointing a finger at the person, which showcases advanced mastery over this skill. It is for this reason that fighting an Uchiha is an extremely difficult problem to overcome. Might Guy used to focus on Kakashi's feet while fighting him and that is how he figured out a way to keep up with them.

While these powers of the Sharingan make it an overpowered ability on their own, there is more to them that the fans know makes it exceptional. This is the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan. Known to be an evolutionary form of Sharingan, this eye only awakens when the user undergoes severe trauma caused by grief after losing a loved one. It makes their chakra more sinister, and, at the same time, grants their eye more power as well. Along with being stronger across all boards, the Mangekyo Sharingan offers its users unique abilities. In Madara's case, however, these abilities were non-existent.
Madara's Mangekyo Sharingan Power
Fans know that Madara Uchiha awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan at a very young age. In fact, he and his brother were the first ones to awaken this eye in the history of the Uchiha Clan. That is what pushed them atop the pecking order and made Madara the leader of the clan. However, where the other Mangekyo Sharingan in the story had powers like Amaterasu, and Tsukuyomi, among others, Madara had none. Curiously, in one of the Naruto games, Storm Generations, Madara is known to have had a special power. This power allows him to reverse time during combat. This was seen when Madara was fighting against Hashirama and initiates combat against him, only to see that it ends badly for him and then reversing time to avoid that outcome. This ability has never been seen in the manga of Naruto, however, it certainly does exist in the game.
While the canonicity of this is up in the air, it must be noted that Studio Pierrot helped CyberConnect to develop the story for this game and exclusively animated 60 minutes of it for the game. In a way, this can be considered an anime episode of its own. Fans also know that Kishimoto has been in contact with Studio Pierrot on seven occasions in the past. As such, It is entirely possible for this ability to be somewhat canon as well, at least to the anime. Nonetheless, this ability certainly does exist in the anime form of Naruto as it was created by the staff of Studio Pierrot itself. It was always rather bizarre for Madara to not have a Mangekyo Sharingan ability, with this, fans might finally have an answer to this mystery.
