See your important emails

By default, Gmail offers labels such as Work, Social, Update, etc. To create a new custom label, click on the “Create new” option and enter the name of the label, such as urgent or important. Once the labels are created, simply right-click on an email and mark it as important or urgent.

At the top of the Subscribe window, select your Gmail account. Navigate to your Important folder, and remove the checkmark beside it. The Important folder will be within a folder called [Gmail] or [Googlemail]. Go to the Settings panel for your account.

The "Important" folder is not, in reality, a separate folder, but a label that Gmail applies to specific messages based on your personal reading (or sending) history.

Click the New Email (or New Message) button from the Home tab in the toolbar. Click the red exclamation mark (High Imprtance) in the Message tab under the Tags section.

If you don't want emails getting marked as important, go to mail settings > inbox – disable Importance markers, and then set up a new filter.

Tip: High priority emails will override any other notifications settings you've made for certain labels. Turn email notification sounds on or off. Open the Gmail app .

Turn Your Important Labels Into Tabs

It only takes two clicks to move your labels to the top of your inbox! Hover the cursor over your favorite Gmail label and click the three dots to open the “labels option” menu. Select Add to tabs, and your label will now be more visible in your inbox.
