What can get you banned from Airbnb? ›

Physical intrusions: Hosts and guests must not access or attempt to access private spaces unless they have permission or there is an emergency. In entire-home stays, this applies to the listing itself and its property.

Issues must be reported to Airbnb with 72 hours of discovery to be eligible under our Rebooking and Refund Policy. Note: You have up to 60 days after your reservation's checkout date to submit a Resolution Center request.

Appealing violations and listing removals

To proceed with an appeal, you'll need to provide: The name of the listing. The reservation codes for the stays where the issues were reported, which can be found in the Reservations tab. The specific issue reports that you would like to appeal and why.

How long will my Airbnb suspension last? It depends on the issue. Minor problems might lead to a short, 5-day suspension, while bigger issues could mean a longer pause or even a permanent ban. During a short suspension, your existing bookings are still safe.

In the end, the answer to whether Airbnb hosts can come in unannounced is that, except in the case of emergencies, advance notice should be given to the guest at all times. Hosts are not allowed to have security cameras and recording devices that monitor any part of a listing's interior, such as the listing's hallway, bedroom, bathroom, living room, or guest house, even if they're turned off or disconnected. Hidden security cameras are strictly prohibited.

Depending on the nature of the violation, Airbnb may also take other actions, such as canceling an upcoming or active reservation, refunding a guest from a Host's payout, and/or requiring Hosts to provide proof that they have addressed issues before they can resume hosting.

Airbnb refund policies

Moderate: Cancellable until five days before your stay for a full refund. Firm: Cancel 30 days before the stay and receive a full refund; cancel between 7 and 30 days before your stay and receive a 50% refund; no refund if canceled fewer than 7 days before the stay.

Can Airbnb refuse a refund? ›

Keep in mind that some listings may be non-refundable, or only partially refundable, after certain dates and times. In these cases, you won't be able to cancel your reservation for free, unless the cancellation is covered by Airbnb's Major Disruptive Events Policy.

How cleanliness issues are fixed. Your Host may be able to quickly fix the issue, or they may be willing to give you a partial refund to make up for the inconvenience. If your Host can't resolve the cleanliness issue, let Airbnb know within 72 hours of discovering the issue.

Start a request within 72 hours

If you still need to cancel your reservation during your stay, we can help you start a request to resolve the issue with your Host. When you do this, you can choose to ask your Host to fix the problem, request a partial refund, or request to cancel your reservation for a full refund.

If a Host and guest can't reach an agreement

Issues must be reported to Airbnb within 72 hours of discovery to be eligible under our Rebooking and Refund Policy. From there, a dedicated team member will review the info provided by everyone and ask questions (if necessary) before making a final decision.

Your account may be deactivated during a review of Airbnb accounts. Account Reviews are part of an effort to uphold our Community Policies, our Terms of Service, and foster mutual trust. This blacklist represents a system wherein guests who have violated certain guidelines or behaved inappropriately can be restricted or barred from booking properties.
