The quickest and easiest way to seal a cardboard box is to use a handheld tape dispenser, which applies the tape tightly to the box and helps reduce tape waste. To provide extra protection and ensure all the flaps of the box are sealed, use the letter “H” seal method used by most moving companies.

In packing processes, this is often a manual process, where flat-packed boxes are sealed at the base using a tape gun, filled and then taped shut. Glue – Hot glue is widely used to join the sides of boxes in packaging manufacturing processes. Once cooled, it forms a strong seal.

If you want to make things like cardboard boxes last longer and resist water, protective coatings are your friend! This is how they work: Polyurethane, Acrylic, or Lacquer sealers create a tough, waterproof barrier. You must apply several thin coats rather than one thick layer for ideal results.

Use clear or brown packaging tape, reinforced packing tape or paper tape (do not use scotch tape). Cord, string or twine should not be used as it causes the package to get caught and possibly damaged in sorting. Reinforce the bottom of boxes with at least one strip of packing tape.
