Can you use a security question for Western Union? ›

The “Test Question” feature in the Western Union^® Money Transfer service is designed for emergency situations where the receiver does not have proper identification (e.g. his or her wallet and identification have been stolen). It should never be used as additional security to time or delay the payment of a transaction.

Select Security info from the left navigation pane or from the link in the Security info block, and then select Add method from the Security info page. On the Add a method page, select Security questions from the drop-down list, and then select Add.

Good security questions should have answers that are easy for the user to remember but difficult for someone else to guess. For example, questions about personal preferences or experiences can be effective, such as “What is your favorite movie?” or “What was the name of your first pet?”

Protect yourself from fraud

Only use Western Union to send money to friends and family. Never send money to someone you have not met in person. Scammers sometimes encourage people to transfer money.

If you forgot both your security question answers, there are two things you can do. If you have a computer that you have chosen to “Remember computer” on, you can log in on that computer and reset your security questions.

On the File tab. choose Options >Trust Center > Trust Center Settings. On the Email Security tab, under Encrypted email, select the Encrypt contents and attachments for outgoing messages check box. To change additional settings, such as choosing a specific certificate to use, click Settings.

A security question is a form of shared secret used as an authenticator. It is commonly used by banks, cable companies and wireless providers as an extra security layer.

DO make the answer hard to guess. Keep in mind it may be between 3 and 23 letters and/or numbers in total. Special characters, such as @, #, $ cannot be used. DON'T select a question that can be answered by 'Yes' or 'No'.

A clever way to make a password hint is to make a sentence that has words that begin with each letter of your password. If your password is 'Muzik', for example, the hint could be 'My underage zebra is keen'.
