We do what we can to reduce the risk that your money is given to the wrong person. Western Union requires receivers to provide photo ID as an added way of ensuring they are who they say they are – and although it's not 100% reliable, this simple procedure helps protect your money transfer.

If you don't have one, you can still send up to $2,999. Please check and re-enter your SSN number. Please choose valid occupation.

Your passport. Your EU/EEA-issued ID. Your driving license. Your residence permit.

Also, keep your documents ready. We may take around 4 hours to verify your identity. Once your identity verification is successful, we'll send you a confirmation email.

When your identity document expires, we'll notify you to update it or upload another valid document. Consider that if you don't, you won't be able to make transfers with Western Union.

You can go to any Western Union Agent. If you do not have an ID, make sure the sender has a test question to answer and make sure you provide the test question and answer to the receiver. The Agent will ask you the question and you give the answer.

For security reasons, only the designated receiver can pick up a transfer.

What are your online transfer limits with Western Union? Western Union unverified accounts can usually send up to 3,000 USD. If you want to send more you must verify your account with some ID - once verified, the upper limit can be 50,000 USD.

Money in Minutes service for pick up at an Agent location – generally delivered within minutes*. Next Day service for pick up at an Agent location is generally available the next day*. Direct to Bank deposit typically takes between 2 to 5 business days, but could vary, depending on country.

If you need a higher amount than $1,000, you may need to purchase multiple money orders. Keep in mind, if you spend more than $3,000 in money orders in a single day, you may need to show ID and complete a form to prevent money laundering.

To pick up your money transfer, please bring one of the following: Your US or international driver's license. Your passport. Your State ID.

We need additional information to understand why you use Western Union and the relationship between you and the person or entities you're transacting with.

Your government-issued ID. Your credit card²/debit card or bank account information, depending on how you want to pay for your transaction. Your receiver's first and last name as it appears on their ID. Your receiver's bank details⁴ and address, if you are sending to a receiver's bank account.

Your Western Identity is your key to central services at Western and consists of your User ID and Password. Your User ID or Username is a unique name that identifies you as a member of the Western community. This identity is assigned to you upon application or appointment to Western. The User ID cannot be changed.

A national identity document is an identity card with a photo, usable as an identity card at least inside the country, and which is issued by an official authority. Driver's licenses and other cards issued by state or regional governments indicating certain permissions are not counted here as national identity cards.
