Is rescheduling the same as cancelling? ›

The only difference being that there is an intention to still have the appointment at some unspecified future time. In most cases though you can just treat them like a special form of cancellation.

If you've already weighed your options and thought through your decision, here's what you need to know. You cannot cancel your registration alone. The AP exams are ordered by schools, not students, which means you'll have to talk to a high school's AP Coordinator to register—or to cancel. There is a cancellation fee.

Exam Rescheduling Policy

If you choose to reschedule your appointment there is a $75 USD rescheduling fee each time you reschedule. Please note, you must have a minimum of 90 days between exam attempts. To reschedule an exam appointment contact Prometric at https://www.prometric.com/test-takers/search/eic.

Many test appointments can be cancelled and/or rescheduled through the Prometric Web site. From the Prometric.com home page, click on the button for what you'd like to do (either cancel or reschedule). Then, simply follow the on-screen instructions which will walk you through the process, step by step.

A simple "I'm very sorry, but I must cancel our meeting scheduled for..." sets an appropriate tone. It's courteous and gets right to the point without unnecessary explanations. Resist over-apologizing or making excuses in the opening. That will come later.

Rescheduling an interview doesn't automatically harm your chances of getting the job, especially if done respectfully and for a valid reason. However, first impressions matter, so it's important to handle the situation professionally.

Students who submit a cancellation request by 11:59pm PST on November 5, 2023 will receive a full refund of the exam fees and any applicable late ordering fees, minus a $3 administrative processing fee.

Regarding penalties, there are typically no academic penalties from your high school for choosing not to sit for the exam. However, no scores will be reported, since the exam wasn't taken, so you obviously won't have that exam score to submit to colleges.

Many students take AP courses without taking the exam for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the test was too expensive, or they couldn't make the exam date. It could also be because none of their potential colleges accept AP credits. Either way, colleges will not look down on you for abstaining from taking the exam.

If you do not appear for your scheduled exam appointment, or if you are not allowed to test due to lack of qualifying ID, you will be marked as a “no-show” in Prometric's system and will forfeit the scheduling fee paid to Prometric.

To reschedule an exam within the ProctorU Platform, simply click the the reschedule button on your "My-Sessions" page. This will bring you to the scheduling process outlined in the above “How Do I Schedule My Exam” section. Follow that process to reschedule your exam.

Rescheduling or canceling your test

The 'reschedule' button will not be displayed if you have already rescheduled the booked test appointment 6 times or if there are 14 days or less left before your test. You may be charged a fee, depending on how close to the test booking you reschedule or cancel your test.

If you don't appear in the exam on the scheduled date & time the exam fee will be forfeited. You have to purchase the exam once again by paying full fee. This is true for all the certification exams.

If you are unable to keep your testing appointment on the scheduled date(s) or at the scheduled location, you may change your date(s) or center by following the instructions on your Scheduling Permit for contacting Prometric. You will need to provide your Prometric Confirmation Number when you cancel and reschedule.
