Center Parcs urges guests to respect rule of six when booking (2024)
Center Parcs at Elveden Forest is one of many holiday resorts asking customers to rearrange their bookings as a result of the government’s ‘rule of six’ for Covid-19.
The new measures mean it is now illegal for groups of six or more to meet in public or indoors, putting many group staycations on hold.
A spokesman for Center Parcs said: “At Center Parcs we continue to follow government advice. We ask that all of our guests keep up to date with the latest information to understand what this means for their own personal circ*mstances.
“If any of our guests are impacted by this update, or other Covid-19 related issues, then we are offering flexibility with our Book with Confidence guarantee.
“This allows guests to receive a full refund or change their booking date free of charge in the four weeks before their arrival date.”
A number of group bookings of more than six – who had originally booked one villa between two households – have since either booked two separate villas, rescheduled or cancelled their holidays as a result of the tighter measures.
Households and support bubbles of more than six people exempt from these rules and Center Parcs has said they will turn people away who are believed to be flouting the rules.
Those who have visited the holiday park recently have praised the company for how well they have followed the rules, their cleanliness and their refund policy.
The name Elveden seems to come from Old English *ælfa-dene 'elves' valley': the name appears, translated into Latin, as vallis nympharum 'valley of nymphs' in the mid-12th-century Miracula sancte Wihtburge. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the village was often referred to as Elden.

Crowded, even before the school holidays, noisy, nowhere to swim, nowhere to relax, shallow water and a Lazy River that should be renamed Crazy River. The planners obviously put a lot more thought into the rides and flumes than they did into the Pool area, which used to be the trademark of Center Parcs.

You also had to strip the beds and take out the rubbish, as well as ensuring the kitchen was left as found. This made the cleanliness issue almost worse, as they didn't have that much left to do! The beds were very comfortable and the living space was good.

Enjoyed our weekend but found some things to be very expensive - you are a captive audience. My wife ran out of cigarettes and had to get them from Parc Market at cost of £9.50 for a pack of 20. Cycles are £26 for the weekend - rip-off.
Yes - when leaving your dog alone in your lodge, we recommend shutting bedroom doors and closing your living room curtains to create a calmer environment for them.
