And the ratepayers foot the bill for their “extension cords” and substations, to the tune of hundreds of millions and more!
Not only do citizens suffer eminent domain seizures for a 120ft transmission line easem*nts, sacrificing our home values, and natural and cultural resources, we have the “privilege” of paying for their massive energy infrastructure.
No real financial facts. How long is the life of these ugly concrete boxes? What happens when this junk literally goes into space on new technology smaller than your cellphone? No one is thinking ahead. No one is computing the loss of trees, what these centers are doing to water tables. No one is protecting the environment or our children who are pummeled with noise and construction dirt. Don’t paint a rosy picture based on nothing. Loudoun is hurting for electricity. Fairfax is concerned about the Occoquan. Our Board of County Supervisors are concerned with their stock portfolios their votes fattened. Vote these self-serving twits out, Neighbors.
Nothing rosy described here. On the contrary, the unprecedented profit realized by the data center industry shows how they are able influence local governments and get what they want. It is anything but rosy ... it is ominous. And, yes, the only way to stem the tide of destruction is to vote out this inexperienced and ideological Board. If we don't demand these industrial facilities be limited to industrial zones ONLY - here in an area of immense historic landscape of national significance and of vital natural resources, that will be materially and directly devastated, it will sprawl everywhere and every locality will be powerless to stop it.
