This means that your BVN is the number attached to your financial accounts that your bank can use to identify you as a customer. Like your National Identification Number (NIN), your BVN is linked to your biometric information, including date of birth, full name, and contact details.

Walk into any branch of your Bank. Fill and submit the BVN Enrolment form. An acknowledgment slip with the transaction ID is issued to you. Within 24 hours the system confirms your application, your BVN is generated, and you receive an SMS for pickup.

The First Bank makes use of the *565*0# code for checking BVN. The USSD code is the general code used by all Banks in Nigeria to check BVN numbers. To use this code, you must dial it using the mobile number that you registered with your First Bank account.

For the first part which is the BVN Enrollment, as of today, cannot be done online. You can't do the whole procedure online because to complete your enrollment, your bank or the registration centre has to capture your passport photograph, your biometric data, and your signature.
