Yes, there are washrooms on every VIA Rail train. There are showers on some of our trains, depending on the route. For long distance trains (e.g. the Canadian and the Ocean), private washrooms and shared shower rooms are available for cabins. Berths have access to a shared washroom and a shared shower room in each car.
What do train drivers do if they need the toilet? ›
If they ever have a need, they can attend the restroom at the next scheduled halt of the train in the SLR which is the first coach just behind the locomotive (used to be called the Assistant Guard's compartment, these days assistant guard posts are abolished/abolishing).

Long distance trains (overnight at least one night) have showers for sleeping car passengers. No showers are available for coach passengers. Sleeping car passengers in bedrooms have a shower in their room.
