Reasons why Hosts may decline reservation requests

Availability settings (ex: preparation time, advance notice, or minimum/maximum date settings) may interfere with a trip request. Airbnb can block your calendar if you haven't provided all the information required for your account.

There are lots of reasons a payment method might prevent you from completing a reservation, including expired credit cards or insufficient funds. Check out our troubleshooting tips for payment methods if you're not sure what's wrong.

Valid cancellation reasons include: Circ*mstances beyond the Host's control, such as major damage to a listing, emergency repairs (like a gas leak or a burst pipe), or serious personal illness that prevents hosting.

If your trip request is declined or expires

Occasionally, a reservation request may be declined if the Host's calendar is not up-to-date, and the dates aren't actually available. Guest is booking on behalf of someone else. Requests made on behalf of other people, like family members or friends, aren't allowed on Airbnb.

Identity verification, reservation screening, payment issues and listing availability are some reasons why you might not be able to complete a reservation.

The answer is yes! Both guests and Hosts can decline trip change requests. If you decline, the proposed changes don't take effect, and the existing reservation details remain as is.

We have implemented restrictions that prevent guests from making reservations for entire homes or private rooms when a pattern of factors suggest that the booking may present higher safety risks (such as parties). While we know this may be an inconvenience you still have options.

Can an Airbnb host cancel without a reason? ›

Hosts who cancel confirmed bookings without a valid reason may experience other consequences, as explained in our Terms of Service and ground rules for Hosts. For example, Hosts may have their Listing or account suspended or removed, and may lose their Superhost status.

So basically Airbnb hosts who ask you to cancel your reservation on their behalf could be trying to pass along those extra fees and inconveniences to you. But don't let them. It's not your fault they want to cancel the reservation you booked fair and square. Oh, they're going to have to pay annoying extra fees?

If you haven't verified your identity, your calendar will be blocked and you won't be able to receive new bookings until this step is completed. If a guest hasn't verified their identity, the reservation will remain pending with the dates blocked.

Your listing could be suspended or banned if you consistently fall below the average. Airbnb does not take these factors lightly. If your guest makes changes or cancels their reservation

You can accept or decline their request, or even send your own trip change request with proposed edits. If your guest cancels, we'll notify you and automatically unblock the dates on your calendar so you can host other guests.
