Let’s grossly overgeneralize.
Think American cheese.
What in the world is this geometric yellow brick?
According to Wikipedia (and other sources), it’s actually called “pasteurized prepared cheese product”.
Which means: American cheese = artificial cheese.
To a European, watching a Youtube video where someone’s handling a whole block of that “cheese” feels a little bit unreal.
In Europe we do have some meltable yellow cheese varieties too (like cheddar), but they make up what feels like 2% of all available cheese kinds. And none of them comes in the form of a brick.
But artificial cheese aside. Let’s get into the bigger picture.
The other day I stumbled over this Reddit question in the /ask Subreddit.
The question was “Why is it that Europeans in general seem to be healthier and more fit/in shape than Americans?”.
Before I get into the why, a disclaimer: Of course I know, the US is big, and Europe has many different countries. Comparing a person from Beverly Hills to a person from Estonia could give opposite results.
“Health” also has many different dimensions.
