You may receive the "Bad password" error because PayPal Manager rejected the password you entered while trying to log in.
You can receive the error message "Bad login/password combination" or similar messages for one or more of the following reasons:
- You forgot or lost the password or login credentials, or the original holder of those credentials is no longer with the company.
- You're using the wrong letter case for login information (for example, MyLoginID and myloginid aren’t the same).
- Internet Explorer, or another browser you're using, cached the bad login attempts.
- Someone else has changed the login information.
- You entered the URL to PayPal Manager incorrectly.
If you receive this error message, try the following solutions to resolve the problem:
Password unknown
Because PayPal employees can't view your password, you must reset it yourself. If you're a user on the account, you can either contact an administrator to reset your password or reset your password from manager.paypal.com if you can answer the security questions set up for your account.
Here's how to reset your PayPal Manager password online:
- On the PayPal Manager login page, click Forgot your password?
- Enter your credentials and click Continue.
- Enter answers to the security questions that you have set. If you answer these questions correctly, we’ll prompt you to reset your password.
- Enter a new password, then confirm and save it.
- Use your new password to log in to your PayPal Manager account.
- If you're an administrator on an account that has multiple administrators. You can ask another administrator to reset your password.
- If you're the sole administrator on an account and you can answer the security questions for that account. Follow the steps that a user would take to reset their password from the PayPal Manager home page. However, if you can't answer the security questions, you must contact Customer Support to reset your password. Here's how:
- Have the following information available for authentication:
- Processor account information (contact the merchant bank if needed).
- Accepted credit card types.
- Company address.
- Company phone number.
- Primary, secondary, or admin user contact information.
- Call Payflow Support at 1-888-883-9770.
- Give your login ID to the Payflow Support representative.
- After we validate the primary, secondary, or admin contact, we’ll update the password.
Reset bad login count
PayPal Manager limits the number of login attempts using invalid credentials. Once you’ve reached the limit, the system temporarily disables your account to prevent unauthorized access to your account. This security feature resets within 1 hour. If you need to have your account reset immediately, contact the PayPal Payflow support department. The request must come from the primary, secondary, or admin contact for the account.
Wrong letter case
Check that you entered your login information in the correct case (uppercase, lowercase, or both).
Password information cached
If old password information is cached within your browser, it may prevent you from entering new information.
Here's how to clear the temporary Internet files in Internet Explorer:
- Click Tools.
- Select Internet Options.
- Click Delete under browsing history on the General tab.
- Select Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and Website Data, and Passwords.
- Click Delete.
- Close all open Internet Explorer windows.
- Restart Internet Explorer.
- Try to log in again.
Login information changed
PayPal Manager requires you to change the password periodically for security reasons. Check with your staff to see if anyone has changed the password. If they haven’t changed the password, reset it using the steps described in the preceding ‘Password unknown’ topic.
