In order to find the right accessories for your Apple AirPods, you first need to know which model you actually own. Because Apple has now released many different models and these often resemble each other or are almost the same, you can quickly lose track and you no longer know exactly which model you actually have in your hands. To determine the model of your AirPods, you need the exact serial number that's displayed in your iPhone settings. This can be found in various ways, which we have listed for you below.
Just compare the model number with our list and - voilà - you know your model.
Unfortunately, sometimes things can go wrong with technology and you need the serial number. In the case of your AirPods, this is sometimes difficult to find, because your AirPods do not have a screen. You can still find out what the serial model of your Apple AirPods is by using your iPhone. We will explain how to request the model number, hardware version and serial number. This information can come in handy if you have to make use of your warranty.
How to find the serial number of your AirPods?
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone and go toGeneral > About.
2. Scroll down until you see AirPods*.
3. Tap AirPods and you'll see the serial number, which is different for each product. You will also see the manufacturer name (Apple), model number, firmware version and hardware version.
*Are the AirPods not visible? Then you first have to pair them with your iPhone again. You can do this by going toSettings > Bluetooth and tap AirPods. It also helps to open and close the case near your iPhone, or to put the AirPods back in your ear.
A second way to find the serial number is in the lid of the charging case. The serial number is also stated here in small print.
How to find the model number of your AirPods?
The model number can be found in the same way as the serial number. So make sure your AirPods are connected to your iPhone and go toSettings > General > About > Airpods.
The model number is also listed on each Airpod itself. You'll find the fine print on the underside of the earpiece, near the stick.
The charging case also has its own model number. You can find this on the inside of the cover.
