The mutual fund holdings in companies listed on the NSE was at Rs 33.96 lakh crore at the end of March 2024, rising 7.66 percent from the previous quarter, showed a recent report by Prime Infobase. The share of Domestic Mutual Fund investments in these companies rose to 8.92 percent as of March 31, 2024, up from 8.81 percent recorded on December 31, 2023.In the same period, mutual fund holdings increased in 511 companies, coinciding with a 2.98 percent average stock price rise among these firms. Conversely, holdings decreased in 412 companies, although the average stock price for these companies still saw a 2.61 percent increase.Here is how Mutual Funds invested in Q4

The top 10 companies with highest mutual fund holdings by percentage as of March 2024 included Coforge (42 percent), Kalpataru Projects International (41 percent), Gateway Distriparks (40 percent), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (40 percent) and Equitas Small Finance Bank (38 percent).

Top 10 companies with highest mutual fund holding (in value)
The top 10 companies with highest mutual fund holdings by value as of March 2024 included HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Infosys and L&T.
Top 10 companies which saw the highest increase in mutual fund holdings
As of March 2024, mutual funds holding in Whirlpool of India increased by 20.02 percentage points (percent) from December 31, 2023, followed by Aavas Financiers (9.08 percent), Innova Captab (8.98 percent), Shakti Pumps (8.98 percent) and Tips Industries (8.98 percent).
Top 10 companies which saw the biggest decrease in MF holdings
As of March 2024, mutual funds holding in Traxcn Technologies fell by 7.71 percentage points (percent) from December 31, 2023, followed by Wheels India (5.19Â percent), DCB Bank (4.36 percent), Zee Entertainment Enterprises (4.03 percent) and Sundaram Finance (4.01 percent).
Top 10 stocks with highest buying by mutual funds
During January-March 2024, HDFC Bank, ITC, Reliance Industries and TCS were the top 5 stocks which saw the highest buying by mutual funds.
Top 10 stocks with highest selling by mutual funds
Persistent Systems, with a market cap of Rs 26,169 crore, saw the highest selling by mutual funds during January-March 2024. Other stocks which saw high selling included ICICI Bank, NTPC and Tata Motors.
Top 10 Mutual Funds with largest positions in listed companies by value
In terms of number of stocks, HDFC AMC, ICICI Pru AMC, Nippon India and SBI MF had investments in the highest number of listed companies. HDFC AMC had investments in 654 companies, whereas SBI MF had investments in 561 listed companies.
Industry-wise holdings of mutual funds as of March
This quarter, mutual funds recorded increased investments in stocks within the fields of energy, consumer discretionary, financial services and Healthcare amongst others. Telecom, Utilities and Services also saw some interest.
