The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the favourites to win the NBA Championship this year.
Led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder finished with the best record in the Western Conference sitting above reigning champions the Denver Nuggets.
It meant they entered the playoffs for the first time since 2020 as the No.1 seed and they ended up sweeping the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round.
Mark Daigeneault’s squad made history by becoming the youngest-ever team to win a playoff series.
The Thunder have an incredibly exciting roster with starting five Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, Josh Giddey and Lu Dort all thriving.

Oklahoma City Thunder’s last NBA Championship
The Oklahoma City Thunder have never won the NBA Championship.
However, before they were rebranded in 2008, they won a ring known as the Seattle Supersonics.

That came in 1979 as they beat the Washington Bullets (now called the Washington Wizards) in five games in the NBA Finals.
The closest the franchise has come to winning a championship since then was in 2012 as the Thunder reached their first-ever Finals.
A team that included a young Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook took on an iconic Miami Heat team with NBA legends LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.

KD and Westbrook would try their best to win a ring but they lost over five games and had to settle for second place that year.
Both of those players have gone on to experience success individually but the Thunder have never returned to the Finals for a shot at the world title.
But this year could be the year that they go far and potentially end their long wait for glory.
