Allright, I thought the time would never come, but here I am with my first ace. What should I do with the disc (brand-new Buzzz)?

Sep 13 2004, 08:51 PM

How short was the hole that your tee shot was with a Buzz?

Congrats on the ace.

Well I wish I retired my first ace disc but I lost it about 3 months after getting the ace.

Again, if I could go back I would have retired it to the wall of fame.

maybe 200 slight downhill...will check the tee sign on Wednesday

I don't get why people throw away discs by putting them on their walls. Discs were ment to be thrown, not hung! Hanging ace discs is stupid. It's a waste of a perfectly good disc. Same with collecting discs! The only time I wold retire a disc is when it is not useable, like my first disc.

If it was your first ace, and it's somehow special to you, hang the disc for a while. Just take it back down when you get another ace. ACES ARE NOT THAT GREAT!!

I'm all for retiring my ace discs. If I ever get to where I have 100 aces, or even 20, I might not feel that way. But your first Ace you should definitely retire.

My philosophy: finish the round with the Ace disc and then put it in the car. Buy another one the same color and weight to replace it immediately.

Sep 13 2004, 10:40 PM

Well, congrats on the Ace and the new username. :)

Retire it. You'll regret it forever if you don't and then you lose it, which eventually, you will. If you don't want to keep retiring future ace discs, then cool, but it was your first. Yeah, in the grand scheme of things, aces aren't what playing better golf is all about, but for me, when I got my first (and so far only) ace, I was so elated that I enjoy looking at the wall and seeing the White (un-dyed - hehehehe) CE Test Run of 2000 JLS on the wall and remembering the feeling. :)

You're all wrong. You have to eat your first Ace disc...it's good luck...I swear!!! :D

Ps. For a Buzz I suggest a nice dry white wine.

I have retired all of my ace discs. I've heard too many stories from guys that wished they would have hung their ace discs. Especially that first one.

Do what Rhett said, get a replacement/replacant.

definately retire your first ace. after my first ace I kept it in my bag and lost it.Lucky me, I found it in a used disc bin , and bought it back for 3 dollars . I hit another ace with the same disc about a week later. That disc will never be thrown again!!!!

it's an easily replaceable disc and it's your first ace. that answers your question for you. if it was that perfect, broken in, money, CE disc that was the anchor of your bag, i might think otherwise.

oh yeah... congrats on your ace! maybe i should become the new noaceyet? came close... again... last night (hole 3, pine grove).

Sep 14 2004, 09:36 AM

Eh, I say if you want a memoir, keep a spreadsheet of all the aces you've hit including date, course and hole and include a column where you link to a picture of the disc.

I would add a third option, have it signed then continue to play with it.

Sep 14 2004, 10:26 AM

I typically will lose my ace disc as well as any other disc in my bag. I guess leave behind is a more accurate discription

I keep using any ace disc until it no longer has a place in my bag. I've got several discs that I have had multiple aces with.

I've retired all 3 of my ace discs, and will continue to do so. I only throw a handful of beat in discs, but heres the thing:
When a disc gets broken in where I like it, I put it aside and break in another. That way, when its lost or shelfed for an ace, I have another one already broken in!

for the first one you've gotta put it away somewhere. Any further aces keep throwing them, but that first one is special.

I've made 4 Aces throwing sidearm with a Pro Line Monster. I kept throwing it to see how many Aces I could make with the same disc. Once it broke in too much I hung it on the wall.

Why hang it after one Ace when you could add a few more to it?

Find a way to retire it. I've lost 2 of my 5 ace discs...and I'm bummed. :(

he has came close to acing with it a few times. said he would retire if it ever happened.

I think your first ace is something special, so hang it. Any aces after your first, keep throwing.

I thought about retiring my first ace disc, but thankfully did not. Got three more aces with it. So much love left in it!

I think i saw a disc with "Matchu" written on the back and "Ken Climo" signed on the front. would this be one of your lost discs?

My decision to retire my first (and only) ace disc was simple. It was the last throw of that round. The disc went to the car and out came a brand new one.

If I ever get another one, circ*mstances will determine what happens to the disc. (If it's the $25k ace, its definitely going on the wall.)

Sep 14 2004, 04:12 PM

Oh yea, after I get that 25K, I'll retire that disc for sure with plenty of cash to buy many, many more just like it!!!!!! :D

A multi-Ace Disc would be sweet, no doubt. However, the chances of losing an Ace Disc increase quite a bit by continuing to throw it... I've never planned to lose a disc...unless water and wind are involved! ;)

I wish I had retired the 2 Ace Discs I 'did' lose...

Sep 15 2004, 01:02 PM

When I get my first ace I am going to put that disc away for good. No sense in losing the first one. I can use my next ace disc to get a couple of aces on.

Sep 15 2004, 01:39 PM

I have 9 aces and only one ace disc to prove it :(

I typically will lose my ace disc as well as any other disc in my bag. I guess leave behind is a more accurate discription

yes that is my disc. I got him to sign it right after he won the worlds and was at his car. I may have been the first one to get his autograph, sure miss that disc

Sep 15 2004, 04:26 PM

Allright....it will be retired, after a round and a half. The hole was 217 feet, and played slightly downhill to the left. Great Buzzz hole /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
