Chef Will Coleman, who runs @chefwillco on TikTok and Instagram, revealed a “6 to 1 grocery shopping method” that he claimed could help families save hundreds of dollars in purchases.

“Whenever you go grocery shopping… use the 6 to 1 method,” Coleman said in theviral TikTok clipwith nearly a million views. “You grab six veggies, five fruits, four proteins, three starches, two sauces or spreads and one fun thing for yourself.”

The New York-basedculinary expertand media personality encourages people to test the method so grocery shopping becomes more fun.

“This makes grocery shopping way easier, way cheaper and you get in and out, so you’re not there all day long,” he added.

“The 6-to-1 method was born out of the need to streamline my grocery shopping experience,” Coleman told The Post. “Frustrated with spending excessive time in stores, wasting groceries, and exceeding my budget, I designed this method to simplify the process and address these challenges.”

He formulated this method to cut costs and get better quality food items instead of paying for high-priced foods that are prepackaged or processed.

“Fruits and vegetables are usually on the lower end of things, and they can stretch beyond one meal. You can be way more creative about what you’re putting out in the kitchen, and of course, it’s healthier as well,” Colemantold People magazine.

He admitted that people seem hesitant about addingsix veggiessuch as broccoli, cabbage, kale, collard greens, carrots, Italian parsley, cauliflower and mushrooms into their grocery carts but claims there are plenty of ways to make the vegetables tasty.

“People [can be] a little scared of using vegetables, or they [don’t] know you can even cook with six different vegetables,” he added. “But vegetables are affordable and versatile. You can get them pre-cut, pre-made, pre-roasted.”

The Brooklynite believes incorporating this routine into your weekly or biweekly grocery trips can help alleviate expenses and prevent you from picking up unnecessary purchases.

“Most grocery shopping runs cost between $80 and $90 per weekly trip, covering meals for two throughout the week,” Coleman shared with The Post.

In afollow-up video, he revealed four meals he made with his 6-to-1 grocery shopping trip for under $90. He cooked breakfast tacos, kale pasta salad, roasted salmon and Philly cream cheese chicken burgers.

Meanwhile, many people expressed concerns if the method would work for their large family; Coleman declared that the 6-to-1 hack is for everyone.

“You can do this for a household of two or four or six or eight. It doesn’t matter. You can make it work for yourself — and the way to go about that is to just grab a few more of the single items you choose in each category for your family,” he revealed toPeople.
