What is a pipe chase?
A bathroom vanity pipe chase is, most commonly, a cut-out in thedrawers underneath the sink that allow room for the sink drain, like below.
A bathroom vanity pipe chase can also be a cut-out in the side or back of a vanity cabinet, usually for plumbing but sometimes for vents or other architectural obstructions. See below.
What you need to know about bathroom vanity pipe chases
For vanitysink cabinets with drawers, a pipe chase is, obviously, essential because the sink must drain. You should check the depth of the sink carefully and confirm with your contractor that the chase provides adequate space for the installation of the plumbing.
Adding a pipe chase to a custom made bathroom vanity cabinet might allow you to work around an obstruction or other architectural detail. That means no construction cost - by far the most expensive part of a bathroom remodel - and only a small upgrade fee on the cabinet.
