Virtual Card Numbers from Eno FAQ | Capital One (2024)

Frequently asked questions

When you set up Eno Extension, Eno will ask you to register at least 1 of your eligible Capital One credit cards. Registered cards can be used as payment accounts for all the purchases you make with your virtual card numbers.

Probably not. Each virtual card number is designed to only work at a single merchant. For example, when you’re checking out at Amazon.com, you can get a virtual card number that only works at Amazon.com. Then, when you’re checking out at Walmart.com, you can get a different virtual card number that only works at Walmart.com. In some cases, virtual card numbers will work at multiple merchants.

The Eno extension may be hidden. Here’s how to bring it back to your toolbar:

  • Chrome: Click the “Extensions” icon (puzzle piece) on the right edge of your toolbar. Click the Eno extension icon to open Eno or click the Pin icon so it always shows in your extension toolbar.
  • Firefox:Click the “Open Menu” icon (three horizontal lines) on the right edge of your browser toolbar. Select “Add-Ons” and navigate to “Extensions” in the left menu. If Eno is disabled, click “Enable.” Then, click the "Extensions" icon (puzzle piece) next to the "Open Menu" icon and click on the gear next to Eno. Then select "Pin to Toolbar."
  • Edge: Click the “Settings and more” icon (three horizontal dots) on the right edge of your browser toolbar. Select “Extensions.” Click the "More Actions" icon (three horizontal dots) to the right of the "Eno from Capital One” line item. Select "Show in Toolbar."
  • Safari: Click the "Safari" dropdown menu in your Mac toolbar and select "Settings." In the settings window that opens click "Extensions." Toggle the blue checkbox next to the "Eno from Capital One" line item to be checked.

Yes. You can pay with a virtual card number on Amazon’s checkout page. First, go to the “Payment Method” section and select “Change." Then, select “Add a credit or debit card." At this point, Eno should pop up to help you get a virtual card number. If your virtual card number doesn’t autofill, you can copy and paste it. Finally, click “Add your card", and your virtual card number will be selected as your payment method.

To make this virtual card number your default payment method for Amazon, go to your account and select “Payment options." Then, go to the "Your default purchase preference" section and select "Change Preference."

When Eno pops up at checkout, sign in to your account and follow the steps you'll see there. Or, you can always click on the Eno icon in the top-right corner of your browser toolbar, sign in, and choose "Create."

No. Only primary cardholders can use the Eno browser extension.

Yes! If the merchant accepts credit cards, you can set up your virtual card number to pay for recurring transactions, including bills and subscriptions.

To process a return at a merchant, you should keep and use your receipt. The merchant will not have your actual Capital One card number - only the virtual card number you used to make the purchase. So, if you try to look up or process a return using your actual card number, it likely won't work. After a return is processed, you'll see the refunded amount reflected on your credit card account.

If you’ve opted in to get purchase notifications, you'll get them whenever your virtual card number is used, just like you normally do with other purchases on your credit card account.

Your spending limit with a virtual card number is determined by the credit limit on the credit card account.

No way–that'd be a lot to keep track of! Eno’s got you covered:

  • Open the Eno extension by clicking the Eno icon on your browser toolbar.
  • Click the gear icon that says "Manage" underneath to go to your Capital One account and see all of your virtual card numbers in one place.

It depends. Some merchants can find your tickets by using your email address, name, order confirmation number, or the last four digits of the virtual card number. Other merchants may require the last four digits of your actual card to match the payment method you used online.

We recommend printing your tickets at home or adding them to your mobile wallet, so you can skip the line and get right to your event!
