Vampire VS Werewolf is a What-If? Death Battle written by DiAma1.

Note that this battle will be using generic individuals from each species based on folklore and mythology.

Interlude[]

Wiz: Folklore is home to hundreds of unique and horrifying monsters, but none are quite as iconic as these two.

Boomstick: Vampires, the ultimate bloodsucking undead!

Wiz: And werewolves, the lycanthropic warriors of the night!

Boomstick: He's Wiz, and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win in a Death Battle!

Vampire[]

Wiz: Strigoi. Jiangshi. Vampires. Whatever you may call them, these beings of the night are infamous the world over for their bloodlust.

Boomstick: They hunt their prey by night, and sleep in coffins by day. It's said that nothing can stop them except for holy water, crosses, the bible, garlic, wooden stakes the sun... okay actually there's a lot of stuff that can stop them. That doesn't make them any less scary though!

Wiz: Vampires in European folklore can shapeshift, changing from humanoid figures into bats, mist, cats, and even wolves.

Boomstick: Wait, vampires can turn into wolves?

Wiz: Yeah, Dracula did it.

Boomstick: Does that make them werewolves too?

Wiz: I... don't think so? Anyways, vampires have incredible strength and speed, able to overpower and blitz any ordinary human and break bones with ease. They can fly, teleport, and disappear into darkness.

Boomstick: Also, it turns out that the sun doesn't actually kill them! That's a modern invention. In classic vampire folklore, it only weakens and limits their powers.

Wiz: But they have no issue covering the sun with their weather-manipulation powers! That's right, Dracula once created a massive thunderstorm, and clouds are known to block out the sun.

Boomstick: Speaking of Dracula, he was said to have the strength of at least twenty men. An average man can punch with 100 joules, making Dracula strong enough to hit with a whopping 2,000 joules of energy!

Wiz: Vampires also have the ability to hypnotize those that they make eye contact with, leaving them in a vulnerable state.

Boomstick: I'd let a vampire like Carmilla hypnotize me if you know what I mean. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Wiz: Boomstick, Carmilla is gay.

Boomstick: Oh. Moving on then, speaking of Carmilla, she could manipulate the dreams of her victims. This isn't exactly useful in a fight, but it's still a cool power! Vampires can also control animals like wolves.

Wiz: Vampires have enhanced senses, and can see at night, hear distant sounds, and smell the faintest drop of blood.

Boomstick: Even as superhuman monsters, they still have weaknesses, though. Notably, anything holy will put them down. A stake through the heart will stop them from waking up, and they hate garlic. As mentioned earlier, the sun weakens them significantly too.

Wiz: But still, there's a reason that vampires are some of folklore's most prevalent monsters.

Werewolf[]

Wiz: Every human culture has legends of humans that turn into predatory beasts. The Aztecs had were-jaguars. The Navajo have skin-walkers. India has were-tigers. But today, we'll be focusing on the most famous: werewolves. Legend says that in Ancient Greece, there was a great king of Arcadia named Lycaon. He wanted to test the gods, and so he murdered his own son and cooked him into a meal. When Zeus came down to visit, King Lycaon tried to serve him roasted human flesh. Zeus saw through the trick and punished Lycaon, turning him into a wolf, a being fueled only by lust and hunger, doomed to stalk the night for all eternity. King Lycaon was the very first werewolf.

Boomstick: Jeeeeesus! Talk about a scary backstory! It's pretty fitting though, since werewolves are known for their brutality and hunger for flesh.

Wiz: Most of the time, werewolves look like ordinary people. You could confuse them for your average Joe on the street. But when a full moon hits, they undergo a horrific transformation into giant wolf-men. In this state, they lose all sense of humanity or compassion, and are fueled by instinct alone.

Boomstick: They have superhuman strength, speed, and senses, comparable to a wolf, only way stronger. Reports from ancient times say that werewolves killed women and children alone at night, and slaughtered livestock by the herd. Even hunters were no match for them, as they can survive bullet wounds and overpower their pursuers.

Wiz: They have night vision and can track their prey for miles based on scent alone. Once a werewolf is hunting you, there is no escape. Not to mention that they're basically unkillable.

Boomstick: That's right! They can tank hits from pretty much any conventional weapon, and their only weakness is silver. Yep, for some reason, silver weapons are the only thing these guys are weak to.

Wiz: Some legends say that the reason is because Judas was paid in silver when he betrayed Jesus, turning the metal into a symbol of God's wrath, making it dangerous to unholy beings.

Boomstick: Whatever the reason, they can't stand the stuff. They also have a limited time on their powers, as when the sun rises, they return to their human form. And once they do, they're incredibly weak, being in what seems like a deep sickness.

Wiz: Even with the time cap though, it's unlikely that a person can outlast a werewolf for a full night. Wolves can run 37 miles per hour, and werewolves are even faster than regular wolves.

Boomstick: Yeah, with all that said, werewolves are brutal and nearly impossible to stop. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near one when it transforms.

Intermission[]

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities!

Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!

Death Battle[]

It was a surprisingly bright night, the sky lit by a full moon hanging like a lantern in the sky. A large graveyard sat in the late fog, moonbeams bouncing off of the headstones and dissipating into the mist.

A large, hulking figure prowled into the necropolis. It was covered in coarse, shaggy fur and its hot breath turned to steam in the moonlight. On each of its massive paws were razor-sharp claws, and in its gaping maw sat a collection of blade-like fangs. There was no doubt about it; this was a werewolf.

It had come to the graveyard because it had smelled something from miles away. A smell like coagulated blood, a smell that triggered a primal hunger deep within the werewolf's instincts.

The werewolf followed the scent closely, and rounded the corner of a mausoleum. On the other side it saw what it had been looking for; the corpse of the groundskeeper. There was one issue, however. Looming over the body was a dark, cloaked figure, standing some seven feet tall, blood dripping down its chin. It looked vaguely human, but the humanoid appearance betrayed its true nature: this was a vampire.

The vampire was caught by surprise by the werewolf, but quickly got into a fighting stance, ready to defend its kill. The werewolf wasted no time and lunged forward, swinging a paw full of razor-sharp claws at the bloodsucker. The strike didn't land, however, as the vampire had turned into a cloud of mist and phased through the attack. Rematerializing behind the werewolf, the vampire grabbed the beast's back and took a deep bite into its shoulder.

The werewolf howled with pain, and quickly grabbed the vampire from off of its back. It slammed its foe into the ground and slashed deep into its chest. The vampire dashed away, hissing, and its wound quickly healed at a supernatural speed. It swung its own claws at the werewolf, but they proved ineffective in puncturing the monster's thick hide. The wolf pounced forward, and the vampire jumped away, turning into a black cat in an attempt to escape. However, the werewolf grabbed the cat by the tail and threw it into a headstone, cracking it to pieces. The cat slowly got up, shaking and hissed at the werewolf, which was charging in its direction.

The vampire changed form once again and became a giant bat. It took off into the night sky, its massive wings beating loudly. It swooped down and grabbed the werewolf by the shoulders. The werewolf tried to escape the vampire's grasp, but to no avail. The vampire lifted its opponent high into the sky, and swooped down quickly, dragging it into the dirt. It then lifted it once again and threw it straight into the wall of a mausoleum, which cracked upon impact.

Despite having been thrown into a wall, the werewolf quickly recovered and jumped high into the air. It landed on the bat's back and they tumbled through the air downwards. As they landed, the werewolf slammed against the vampire and began savagely biting into it, ripping off chunks of flesh. It continued to slash and tear and blood flew in every direction, covering the wolf's fur. The vampire, however, turned into a cloud of mist once again, and escaped the attack.

It reappeared in its humanoid on top of a large stone statue of an angel and hissed loudly. The wolf howled in response. Suddenly, thunder rumbled in the sky, and dark clouds moved in, blocking out the moonlight. A torrential downpour of rain fell upon the fighters, and lightning struck down between them, illuminating them both. They jumped at each other, both swinging their claws wildly.

The werewolf slashed, but the vampire caught the blow and countered. The werewolf threw another jab, but was met with another counter. It seemed that in a competition of strength and speed, they were evenly matched. However, the vampire caught the werewolf off-guard and grabbed it by the throat. It stared deep into its foe's eyes, and the werewolf suddenly entered a hypnotic trance. The vampire bit the now-defenseless wolf on the neck, and began to suck its blood. The blood drained quickly, and soon the werewolf was almost lifeless.

The vampire then transformed back into a giant bat and lifted the werewolf into the storming sky. It flew close to the thunderclouds that it had summoned, and threw the wolf downwards. It tumbled through the sky, and was repeatedly struck by lightning. When it finally hit the ground, it was nothing but a burning crisp.

KO!

Results[]

Boomstick: Talk about a shocking finale!

Wiz: This matchup was pretty close. In terms of raw strength and speed, vampires and werewolves are very closely matched. Both of them have superhuman power, and can easily overpower a human.

Boomstick: Where the vampire excelled, however, was in its powers. See, werewolves have a very limited powerset. They can rip and tear and bite, but so can a vampire. Vampires, meanwhile, have tons of powers that werewolves don't have.

Wiz: For example, vampires can shapeshift at will, fly, control animals, and even manipulate the weather. This set of power is simply much more than a typical werewolf will be prepared to deal with.

Boomstick: Not to mention, vampires are smart, even smarter than humans sometimes! Meanwhile werewolves operate on instinct alone. In a battle, planning and outsmarting your opponent are really important, and a werewolf simply can't outsmart a vampire.

Wiz: 'But what about the fact that werewolves can only be killed by silver?', you may ask. While this may be true as far as weapons go, werewolves are still living beings. They aren't undead, which means that they need their heart to beat to stay alive. Without any blood, their heart can't beat, making it possible to kill them by draining their blood.

Boomstick: In the end, the werewolf... sucked.

Wiz: The winner is the vampire.
