How do I get a live person at USPS customer service? ›

Self-service options are available 24/7 by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777). Customer Service representatives are also available to take your calls: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time (Alaska and Hawaii are 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. ET)

Be aware that the U.S. Postal Service does not notify customers of package delivery attempts, or request personal information, via email. Poor grammar and spelling errors are a good indication that the email is fraudulent. If the email requests “immediate action,” it could be a scam.

There is no additional cost for the tracking mechanism on products that automatically include USPS Tracking. Basically, you pay for that product's postage, and tracking is included, unless you are shipping USPS Marketing Mail® parcels.

To file a complaint online, select the topic below "What's the reason for your inquiry?" on the USPS "Email us" page. Topics include delivery issues and complaints about USPS employees or facilities. Call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) or TTY: 711.

Complete a Help Request Form

We recommend that you complete our online help request form before you start a missing mail search. Please use a desktop computer to submit your form. We'll forward your request to your local Post Office^™ facility to help locate any missing items.

This applies to packages that are undelivered, lost, or late. If it has been lost, late or missing for 7 days or more, you can: Go to for additional information: Find Missing Mail on USPS.com. Submit a Missing Mail search request at MissingMail.USPS.com.

If you're not receiving any mail, the best decision is to call or visit your local post office and ask them what the issues could be with your address and what further steps you should take. They can also ask your carrier in person.

Typically, we respond to our customers within 24-48 hours. However, we do not respond to emails on closed days (Saturday, Sunday, and USPS Holidays). If you send your email between Friday 6:00 PM- Monday 9:00 AM, it will take a little longer to get back to you than normal.

No. First-Class Mail does not include USPS Tracking®. Although First-Class Mail postcards, letters, and flats are not eligible for USPS Tracking, those items are eligible for other extra services that provide barcodes for scanning. These extra services can be purchased, providing some tracking information.

First-Class Mail^® is an affordable mail service for standard-sized, single-piece envelopes weighing up to 3.5 oz and large envelopes weighing up to 13 oz. Prices start at $0.73 at a Post Office.

Navigate to stamps.com/tracking/. Enter the USPS tracking number in the search bar; do not include any dashes or spaces. Click on “Check Status.” View the scan history and status information of your package.

If you're receiving mail for someone who no longer lives at the address, write "not at this address" on a note attached to the misdirected mail. If the problem persists, contact the post office on the phone or in person and alert them to the situation.
