Introduction: Turning Computer on or Off Using Google Assistant

In this instructable you will get to know how to turn your pc on or off using google assistant which is found in each and every smartphones. whether the pc is in a place where it is not in an accessible or the pc takes long time to boot, you can turn your pc on well in advance before using it and turn it off even when you are not present in front of your pc.

Supplies

>For this to work the PC should be connected to the router via ethernet cable (wifi will not work) and it should be connected to the plug\socket.

>A device with google assistant connected to the same wifi.

>All devices must be signed in with the same google account.

Step 1: Creating Trigger for Turing on the Pc

Go to ifttt.com and sign in with a google account.

ifttt is a service which lets you create 3 applets(trigger and action) if it is the free version. We need only 2 applets.

click on create > select 'If this' > search and select google assistant > select "Say a simple phrase" > enter the phrase which you want to say and what the assistant should say in response. > click on 'create trigger'.

Step 2: Creating the Action to Turn on the Pc

After the trigger select 'Then that' > search and select for pushbullet > select "push a note" > Enter the title and message > click create action.

Step 3: Creating Action and Trigger for Turing Off the Pc

Repeat step1 and step2.

Replace the word 'on' with 'off' and replace the word 'startup' with 'shutdown'.

Step 4: Install Push2run for Turning Off the Pc

Install 'push2run' in the pc from push2run.com.

go to pushbullet.com and login > go to settings > accounts > then press create 'Access token' > copy it.

open push2run > select 'push2run' under options > select 'enable pushbullet' > paste the access token under 'pushbullet api' > enter the title filter > another window will pop up > right click and select 'add' > enter 'description', 'listen for', 'open', and 'parameters'.

Step 5: Trigger for the Phone App

Install pushbullet app from play store (Pushbullet). log in to your google account in the pushbullet app.

Install Automagic in your phone > open automagic > click on the plus icon > select the 5 lines icon > select 'new' > search and select 'Plugin Event (experimental)' > it will go to another page, select 'configure' > select "If I receive a note" > enter the text > select "from anyone" > select "then delete the push" > save everything.

Step 6: Action for the Phone App

Click and drag the plus icon > select 'new' > search and select "send wake on LAN packet" > Enter the MAC address of your pc > for 'ip/port' enter your ip address with the last 3 digits being 255 for example 'aaa.bbb.ccc.255'

Step 7: MAC Address and Ip Address

Search 'cmd' and type in "ipconfig /all"

MAC address is listed as 'physical address' and ip address is listed as "IPv4 Address".
