What is the best size for a token in roll20? ›

We recommend creating Token art at a 4-times scale to prevent image pixelation when zooming in on a Page past 100% and to allow GMs and Players to enlarge artwork. (Example: if your Token is going to take up 1 square: your art should be 280x280 pixels. If your token should take up 4 squares, 560x560, etc.)

The most popular sized tokens are 0.900” and 0.984”. A 0.900” is slightly SMALLER than a US quarter and a 0.984” is slightly LARGER than a quarter. Use our coin size chart to help make a decision on what size token is needed for your application or coin operated machine.

Here are some helpful rules of thumb for understanding tokens in terms of lengths: 1 token ~= 4 chars in English. 1 token ~= ¾ words. 100 tokens ~= 75 words.

Following information in the Changelog it is recommended to increase the size of the column up to 511 characters. Currently length of the oauth token is around 60-ty characters. Even if it will be doubled as mentioned in Changelog it should be max 120 characters.

Roll20 suggests 70 pixels per unit for maps, or 140 pixels per unit for tokens. Larger sizes have more detail per Grid Square but lead to bigger files. Example: A 2x2 ogre token would be 2 Units x 140 pixels = 280 pixels wide by 280 pixels tall.

Tokens are not tied to the beginning and end of a word – they can include some of the letters, spaces, or sub-words. How the text splits into tokens depends on the language. For English text, 1 token is approximately 3 characters or 0.7 words.

A 1,000 word article might have a TTR of 40%; a shorter one might reach 70%; 4 million words will probably give a type/token ratio of about 2%, and so on.
