Begin with 180 days remaining in licensed state. Product attempts to re-activate through KMS server every seven days. On successful reactivation, reset licensed state to 180 days remaining. If 180 days in license state pass without a successful reactivation, move to a 30-day Grace period.

The client computer attempts to contact the KMS server at regular two hour intervals during the 30 day activation grace period. You DO NOT need to keep Office products open for any length of time, simply using the products as you normally would to achieve KMS activation.

To enable the KMS host computer to activate Office, you must install the Office Volume License Pack and enter your KMS key on the KMS host computer. Then, you need to activate the KMS key over the internet or by telephone.

KMS clients must renew their activation by connecting to the KMS host at least once every 180 days to stay activated. By default, KMS client computers attempt to renew their activation every seven days. After a client's activation is renewed, the activation validity interval begins again.

Just go into the Products and Keys section, and locate the specific product you want. click on Key to expand your keys, and it will show you all your MAK and KMS keys. the Activations or Seats column then shows you your total activations available, and how many have been used, for each key.

Event ID 1014 indicates that the KMS host is not activated, or the KMS host key is invalid. KMS activation requires a valid KMS host key, which has a limited lifespan and must be periodically renewed. When the KMS host key expires, clients that are configured to use that KMS server for activation will fail to activate.

Activation servers (KMS) through an organization or educational institution is legal, and should be used for those intents and purposes.

Open the command prompt, type slmgr /ipk followed by the 25-digit KMS host product key and press Enter. Then, use slmgr /ato to activate the host key.

What are the requirements for KMS activation? ›

KMS volume activation requires a minimum threshold of 25 computers before activation requests are processed. The verification process described here increments the activation count each time a client computer contacts the KMS host.

Can I remove KMSpico after I'm done with it? Yes, you can remove it. But note that KMSpico uses a form of infinite trial reset (KMS activation, used by enterprises) which requires activation to be reestablished once in 180 days or sooner. So if you remove KMSpico you'll have 180 days remaining of your free activation.

We recommend only having a single KMS host for both Windows and Office. Having more than one KMS host on a network is not necessary and it adds more administration work to implement. The additional work involves preparing DNS to let multiple computers manage _VLMCS records.
