Apple users can quickly transfer files between devices using AirDrop, but is there a way to AirDrop from iPhone to Android? AirDrop debuted on macOS in 2011 and iOS in 2013, and since then, it has become the easiest way to share files between Apple devices. This seamless media-sharing function uses a combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to quickly transfer files between two nearby devices. However, the catch is that Airdrop is only available on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
Unfortunately, Airdrop doesn't work with devices outside the Apple ecosystem. Therefore, users can’t AirDrop something from an iPhone to an Android phone. In other words, there is no such thing as AirDrop for Android. However, that doesn’t mean iPhone users can't wirelessly share a photo, video, or another file with an Android device. Certain third-party apps like AirDroid leverage peer-to-peer Wi-Fi networks to wirelessly send a file from one phone to another, irrespective of the operating system. Although these services are not as quick as AirDrop, they provide the same convenience.

Use AirDroid To Transfer Files Wirelessly
AirDroid lets users transfer files between two phones connected to the same wireless network. Although the app isn’t as seamless as AirDrop, it offers cross-platform compatibility between iOS and Android devices. In addition, it converts HEIC files to JPG before transferring. Users will first need to install the app on both the iPhone and the Android phone. It doesn’t matter which email ID is used to create an account, as long as both phones are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Once done, open AirDroid on the iPhone, head to the ‘Nearby’ section, and hit ‘Tap to search.’ If the app asks, enable location services and allow access to the storage. Tap on the name of the Android device to connect. On the next page, hit the paperclip icon in the bottom right corner, select ‘Received files’ or ‘More files,’ and tap on the required file. A prompt will appear on the AirDroid app on the Android phone – hit ‘Accept.’ This will send it from the iPhone to the connected Android phone.
Similarly, if users want to share photos or videos, they should tap the gallery icon in the bottom right corner and tap on the entries to share. Select the files and tap the ‘Send’ button in the bottom right corner. On the Android phone, users can then view the files through the AirDroid app or in the default file manager app. Third-party cloud storage services such as Google Drive and OneDrive can also be used to transfer files between iPhone and Android, but users will need to upload them first, unlike AirDroid.
