Is BBC Bitesize good for GCSE revision? ›

BBC Bitesize has plenty of guides to help students navigate their revision priorities, understand what to expect in exams, and look after their own wellbeing throughout revision and exams.

GCSE students (year 10 or 11) = 1.5 hours per subject per week. E.g. if they're studying 10 subjects this will be 15 hours per week. A Level students (years 12 and 13) = 4-6 hours per subject per week. E.g. if they're studying 3 subjects in year 12, this might be 12 hours per week.

When should you start studying for GCSEs? We recommend starting GCSE revision 6 months before your exams begin. This should give you enough time to go over everything that's covered in the exams a few times and help information stick in your mind, without overloading yourself.

Depends on the child. At gcse , if you've got a good memory and a knack of knowing the way to answer the questions you can get top marks without revision.

Overall, we believe that 3 months can be enough to revise for GCSE exams. However, the more time you add to this, the better. You never really know just how much time is needed for these exams, so being prepared beforehand never hurts. It will just lead to a much better experience, and the quality will shine.

To this effect, the 2024 exams are not expected to be either significantly easier or more challenging than their counterparts from last year. There may be some exceptions, but in general, the difficulty of last year's past papers will still give you a good idea of how hard the actual exam will be!

The 2,3,5,7 revision method

Day 2 and day 3 are revision days of the learning achieved on Day 1. Day 4 is a rest day, while Day 5 you re-visit the work. Day 6 is another rest day, and finally Day 7 is your last re-visit opportunity before you write your exam.
