The Dark Castle is a Story Quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley for Merlin that starts as soon as completing The Forgotten Relics, which has you confronting the Forgetting for the final climactic showdown. This quest was added as part of Disney Dreamlight Valley's The Remembering Update. This The Dark Castle walkthrough includes all steps you'll need to explore deeper through the Dark Castle.

The Dark Castle Walkthrough

Speaking with Merlin, you begin braving yourself to enter the Dark Castle.

Entering the Dark Castle

Merlin gives you words of encouragement and reminisces about the first day you came to the Valley. All of the trials, friendships, friends, relationships, and the community you have strived hard for have culminated to this very day.

Follow Merlin to the Plaza and speak with him.

By focusing your magic on the Relics, you will create the doorway to the other dimension.

Dreamlight Valley is becoming more unstable, but Merlin provides additional parting words that all of the villagers will still be here to aid you.

Pass through the portal to the Dark Castle.

Enter the Dark Castle.

The First Door

Upon entering the Dark Castle, start clearing the Night Thorns obstructing the first door.

Getting closer to the door, interact with it.

The door will speak to you and think you are the Forgetting, but it will not let you pass unless you have wings and a crown.

You will need to trick the door.

Head to the right side and begin destroying the Night Thorns blocking the large wardrobe.

Opening the wardrobe, you will find a Clothing Bag.

Taking the Clothing Bag, use it and you will earn the Cardboard Wings.

Next, head to the left pathway to clear these Night Thorns towards another wardrobe.

Opening the wardrobe, you will find another Clothing Bag.

After taking the Clothing Bag, use it and you will earn the Cardboard Crown.

Now, change your wardrobe; so you are wearing both the Cardboard Wings and the Cardboard Crown.

If you have the Thorny Wings and Onyx Crown, these will both suffice to trick the door!

By wearing the Wings and Crown, go interact with the door again.

The door will hesitate, but allow you to pass through.

Enter through the first door.

The Second Door

By entering through the first door, you will find Night Thorns in front of the stairs.

Be sure to take out the Night Thorns and head up the stairs.

Reaching the top of these stairs, head to the left and continue destroying the Night Thorns.

You will come across a Cooking Station and four ingredients.

Doorine wants something to satisfy her and she is a picky eater.

You will need to cook the Night Thorn Sprout Salad from the ingredients on the table.

The ingredients for the Night Thorn Sprout Salad are:

• 1 Dreamlight Salt
• 1 Thorn Sprout
• 1 Dark Castle Lettuce

And voilà: You have created Night Thorn Sprout Salad!

Make your way to Doorine and clear any Night Thorns in your way.

Interact with Doorine and transfer the Night Thorn Sprout Salad.

The second door will open up.

Pass through the second door.

The Third Door

By entering through the second door, destroy the nearby Night Thorns and head up the next flight of stairs.

Reaching the top of the stairs, head to the right and destroy the Night Thorns in your way.

You will now come across the third door, but it appears to not be there.

Completing the Mechanical Eye Puzzle is the third door you will need to pass through.

To the right of this blank door, you can find a note that refers to a mechanical eye to unlock the way forward.

Pull out your camera in front of the door, make sure the doorway is in view, and snap a picture.

After snapping the picture, the door will light up, and be ready for you to enter.

The Final Door

Entering through the third door, you head forward to destroy the Night Thorns and you will arrive at a door that needs a key to unlock.

You will need to collect four torches, these torches are:

• The Dusk Torch, which can be picked up in front of this locked door
• The Noon Torch, which can be picked up after destroying the small ice block with your Royal Pickaxe
• The Night Torch, which can be picked up after destroying the large ice block to the left with your Royal Pickaxe
• The Dawn Torch, which can be picked up after destroying the large ice block to the right with your Royal Pickaxe

You will need to place each torch in its correct place.

Direction-wise, since it has four corners similar to a compass, we will use the compass method, while standing in front of the railing behind us.

• The Dusk Torch placement is west
• The Noon Torch placement is south
• The Night Torch placement is north
• The Dawn Torch placement is east

By placing all of the torches correctly, the ice will melt, turn into water, and the key will drop into the newly formed pool.

Take out your Royal Fishing Rod and fish out the Dark Castle Key.

Head to the door, transfer the key and pass through the third door.

Climactic Battle

Entering through the third door, you will confront the Forgotten, and a cutscene will play.

After the cutscene, you will try to console the Forgotten, but they think everything you are saying is all lies.

Another cutscene will play with the Forgotten and you clashing your powerful magic.
