A full node in a network validates transactions and blocks, making the whole blockchain stronger and more decentralized. Ravencoin launched on the 3rd January without an ICO or pre-mined coins and it was built on the code of a fork of Bitcoin version 15.1. The project is focused on building an open-source technology and thus has a rapidly growing community. Ravencoin uses its own created X16R hashing algorithm in order to avoid centralized ASIC mining. The dev team has also advised that they are determined to keep the network completely ASIC resistant.
