Tactics Ogre Reborn: How to View Every Ending (2024)

Tactics Ogre Reborn features three main story endings. Because of all the additional nuanced choices, these endings also have many variations. This makes it well worth playing through the game multiple times to see new or ideal results.

Almost all Tactics Ogre Reborn endings factory in who was recruited to the player’s army. This is mostly named special characters. In some cases it can simply be people of varied races, including generics found on the battlefield or hired at local shops. Still it is impossible to get every ending on a single playthrough due to the multiple branching story paths.

The biggest factor in Tactics Ogre Reborn’s ending is based on if either Catiua is alive or dead within the Warren Report. If playing a second time through via the WORLD tarot - a form of New Game Plus - Catiua can still be in the player’s army while also be killed as part of the story. For those going through fresh, the first story choice is immediately after the fight with Archiereus Mreuva after the Chapter IV battle at Hagia Banhambu. He will ask the following:

• “Have you the will to wage war on her?”

In a twist of irony, declining will place Catiua as an enemy during the later fight at Barncia Grand Staircase. Agreeing with Mreuva will actually remove Catiua from the Tactics Ogre Reborn encounter entirely. In the former situation, players must defeat Lanselot Tartaros while avoiding the very hostile Catiua. After the battle, players will speak to Catiua (if she lived) and must reply with certain answers depending on the results back in Hagia Banhambu:

• “I shall do what I must” (she fled): “I never abandoned you”, then “I took no joy in our parting”
• “That I cannot do” (she attacked): “I did only what I had to do”, then “You are my sister, and I love you”

Giving the wrong combination of answers will cause Catiua to commit suicide right there. Otherwise, she will join Denam’s army. The ending is mostly determined if she lives or dies. This even includes if she was successfully recruited, but winds up dying in battle - including even the final boss or while exploring Tactics Ogre Reborn dungeons.

Assassinated Lord

If Catiua died at any point, Denam will be left as the future king of Valeria. His memories of the war will change slightly depending on the Tactics Ogre Reborn route taken - Law, Chaos, or Neutral - to accommodate locations and different characters present. If Catiua did commit suicide at Barnicia this scene is replayed.

News will arrive of a plot to assassinate Denam. Mreuva will meet with his guards - which can include Cerya and Cistina if recruited into the army. After the credits, the coronation will take place. Some possible party guests include Olivya, Sherri, Deneb, and Vyce. But in all circ*mstances, no one will have the foresight of protecting Denam from being shot by the Tigers of Burnham. Tactics Ogre Reborn will cut to black before without revealing if Denam lived or died that day.

Valeria United

This is very similar to the Tactics Ogre Reborn assassination ending. However, things will change if one has maxed 100 Chaos Frame with the people of Walister, Galgastan, and Bakram; the other nation races do not factor in. The Chaos Frame menu is unlocked in the Warren Report after beating the game once.

Chaos Frame will rise if a party member of that race is knocked out but not killed, while the same stat will fall for full kills on enemies or allies of said race. To make things simple, it is best to WORLD all the way back to the start of Tactics Ogre Reborn and only defeats army leaders to minimize overall casualties. Outside of that players will want to let their own allies fall in battle repeatedly but be revived so that they do not die.

While there is still word about the Tigers of Burnham, Tactics Ogre Reborn will shift over to Xenobia. Ogre Battle heroes King Tristan and Beastmaster Gilbert will discuss how Denam was successful in uniting the desperate people of Valeria together. However, there is also word that Lodis will now deploy nearly 200,000 troops to conquer Valeria. Tristan is convinced that victory for Denam is hopeless.

Princess Coronation

The best overall Tactics Ogre Reborn ending is if Catiua survives the entire fight. In this case, she gives a speech as she is crowned the next leader of Valeria. Among her crowd, guests can include Sherri, Cerya, Cistina, and Deneb, but none have spoken lines.

Both Vyce and Olivya will not directly attend the ceremony and will have unique cutscenes about their time with Denam. The Xenobians Canopus, Mirdyn, and Gildas will return home - their dialogue changing depending on who lived or was recruited.

Friends of the Princess

Denam will go on to think about the close friends he and Catiua have made in their adventure. Only one of these scenes will play, with a priority on a greater number of characters. Because only certain people can be recruited on each Tactics Ogre Reborn route, one will need to use WORLD to go through several times and make new story choices so different people are saved or killed.

Regardless of what ending players witnessed, Tactics Ogre Reborn will unlock all of its end-game features. This includes the ability to see Chaos Frame, the WORLD tarot to travel to the past, access to the expanded CODA events, and level syncing to early game fights. For some, only after seeing the ending does the real game truly open up to be explored.
