10 Things To Do If You're Bored In Stardew Valley

Feeling bored of the farm life in Stardew Valley? Here's some things to help alleviate the boredom

Junimo Huts in Stardew Valley are one of the quickest ways to harvest all your crops automatically, but they don’t come until later in the game, and they don’t come cheap. Once you can afford a few Junimo Huts, though, automating your farm is a breeze.

Updated on June 15, 2024 by Gabrielle Castania: With the addition of Raisins and their impact on the Junimo Huts in the Stardew Valley 1.6 update in March, we're updating our Stardew Valley Junino Huts guide to update it with info on that and more!

How To Build Junimo Huts

Stardew Valley: A Complete Guide To Junimo Huts (4)

Unlike the normal buildings you construct for your farm in Stardew Valley, Junimo Huts come from The Stardew Valley: A Complete Guide To Junimo Huts (5)Wizard's private catalog instead of being ordered from Stardew Valley: A Complete Guide To Junimo Huts (6)Robin. However, you'll need to unlock access to the catalog by finishing a late-game quest.

After you've finished the Community Center, head up toward the train tracks to trigger the cutscene you need. It begins the Dark Talisman quest line, which begins with the Goblin Problem quest. It requires you to to run an errand for The Wizard wherein you'll make some Stardew Valley: A Complete Guide To Junimo Huts (7)Void Mayonnaise and sneak into his ex-wife's house - no pressure.

Once you've finished both quests, you'll unlock the catalog in the Wizard's tower that you previously couldn't check out. It's where you'll find, among the obelisks, the Junimo Huts in Stardew Valley. They cost 20,000g and require the following materials:

Junimo Huts each take up a three-by-two area on the farm. You need more than one Junimo Hut to cover any farm map, so either place one tactfully or plan to buy a few.

Junimos Harvest Your Crops For You

Stardew Valley: A Complete Guide To Junimo Huts (12)

Each Junimo Hut covers a 17-by-17 area, extending eight squares in each direction from the door of the Junimo Hut. Each morning, if the Hut registers that there are harvestable plants in its grid, three Junimos will leave the Hut and spread out.

You can leave the farm and they'll keep collecting, but they don't automatically finish the job if you end the day before they're done. They'll stop entirely and continue to collect the rest in the morning.

Junimos from the Junimo Huts in Stardew Valley can harvest any kind of normal crop, except for those grown from Wild Seeds (since they technically count toward the Foraging skill instead of toward your Farming skill).

They'll even harvest items that you'd need a scythe for, flowers, and even items on trellises that the player couldn't reach. You can plant a whole field full of trellises, as long as you can get to the Junimo hut to collect them!

Once harvested, the crops are stored inside the Junimo Hut until you collect them, and the Junimos will continue harvesting on your behalf until their Junimo Hut is full.

You also should consider that the Junimos are not perfect harvesters, since they harvest your crops randomly when they venture into the fields. Even if you wait until the end of a day, it's possible they won't finish the job.

To make sure this doesn't happen, remove any and all obstacles from the area. That especially includes anything that Junimos would have to go around; things they can walk over are fine, but do extend the length of time they spend getting to the crops.

Additionally, if you're playing in the 1.6 update, you'll be able to leave Raisins in the Junimo Huts for your mystical friends to consume. Doing so offers a one in five chance to harvest twice as many crops for each plant they harvest, so be sure to add a few bags to power up your pals!

Can You Stop The Junimos From Harvesting Crops?

There are a couple of ways to stop Junimos from the Junimo Huts from collecting your crops, if you need to leave them for whatever reason. These are:

  • Toggling the harvest option in the menu by interacting with the Junimo Hut.
    • The button you're looking for is of a Junimo holding a Stardew Valley: A Complete Guide To Junimo Huts (14)Blueberry.
  • Obstructing the entryway of the Hut, which prevents the Junimos from physically leaving the Junimo Hut.

Regardless of the harvest cycle on your farm, the Junimos from the Junimo Huts in Stardew Valley will not collect crops if it's raining, so keep the day's weather in mind before you rely on your mystical pals to harvest for you that day.

Can You Change The Color Of The Junimos?

It's a small, aesthetic thing, but you'll notice that the colors of Junimos change according to the season.

However, you can manually change the color of the Junimos to be whatever you'd like. The 24th secret note reveals that you can place gemstones inside the Hut for them. If you do this, the Junimos will change to be the same color as the gemstone you put in!
