ALGORAND GOVERNANCE REWARDS
The Algorand Governance program works in cycles. Each cycle lasts three months and contains a sign-up phase, a voting phase, and a rewards phase. The ALGO rewards are distributed within the first 7 days, after the end of the period.

The Algorand Foundation has closed its staking rewards program. As of April 2022, staking rewards dropped to 0 and were replaced by governance rewards. To continue receiving rewards, you will need to sign up for the Governance program (Become a Governor).
Governance is a decentralized program ALGO holders can join and vote on the future of the Algorand protocol. You can commit your ALGOs to governance for a three-month period, vote on the measures proposed by the Algorand Foundation, and earn rewards for doing so.
Keep in mind that Ledger Live doesn’t support governance rewards. You will need to use a third-party wallet such as MyAlgo. Learn more
Governance works in cycles, where each cycle lasts three months. Governors who register and participate in the program for a three-month period will be entitled to vote on the voting measures, and will then receive rewards.
Governance program allows you to vote on the future of the protocol and ensures the Algorand governance system stays decentralized. Governance is also the best way to earn ALGO rewards, with APY % of 10.02% – 14.05% seen in previous periods.
Algorand’s Governance program is different from staking. To participate in governance and earn rewards, you need to sign up for the program on the Algorand Foundation website and deposit a dedicated amount of gALGO. If your wallet balance becomes insufficient while participating in governance or you don’t vote in the sessions, you will not be eligible for any rewards for that governance period.
