Power wise its enough.
The issue is its a cougar vte, that's a budget psu made by HEC, its clearly 2 or 3 years old already and although its not completely dire you really should replace it at the earliest opportunity.
You're running a $800-1000 system there on a psu that sells for less than $50.
That alone should be enough to set alarm bells ringing.

If so what power supply would be the most optimal for my system in the time being?

What country are you from?
Psu's are overpriced at the moment but I'll have a look for you.

I'd absolute pick the neo eco gold over the cx550 when its within $10.
Thats as a cx550 owner myself, its a good psu. The antec is a seasonic focus though and that's just a no brainer for a little more outlay.

Yeah with $5 difference you're right. I didn't look well i guess.

Would something cheaper like a non-modular psu be acceptable like this one ?https://www.newegg.com/antec-neoeco-550c-ne550c-550w/p/N82E16817371124

Neo eco bronze isnt on the same level as the Neo eco gold.

So would a PSU like https://www.newegg.com/antec-neoeco-gold-zen-series-ne500g-zen-500w/p/N82E16817371127 be acceptable then?

Absolutely agree, the zen is probably decent, it's andyson vs seasonic though.
For $10 more the neo eco gold is absolutely the better buy.

Might be a "best buy" but only a 3-year warranty.
I have 2 Antec Earthwatts 380W that are both 9-years old and still running strong. One ran 24/7 for years before I switched to a different case that it didn't fit in. The other runs 24/7 off and on for months at a time.
I'd recommend Antec and am looking for a new power supply of 500 to 600 watts or so.
The Antec Earthwatts Gold Pro Series EA650G Pro 650W Semi-Modular, 80 Plus Gold, 120mm Silent Fan, PhaseWave Design, 7 Year Warranty appears to be an even better buy on Amazon at $89.99.

Get CX 550 or Antec Neo Eco 550 Gold. It really doesn't matter. Get whichever is available to you.
Please don't keep using an under $50 PSU in your thousand dollar system.

The one he links has a 7 year warranty.

Eco gold is seasonic focus, earthwatts gold pro is focus plus.
Virtually identical apart from hybrid silent fan on the gold pro.
I actually agree its a better buy at $10 more for the 650w.
When the OP is clutching at lower quality models to save $5 though that thought kind of goes out of the window.

I doubt that thing is even pushing 500W on the 12V rail.

Incorrect. Neo Eco Zen Gold is Andyson's new platform we don't really have much decent reviews for now, only this one :
https://www.f14lab.com/2020/04/review-antec-neo-eco-gold-zen-700w.html
I'm not actually talking about the zen, I recommended the neo eco gold 550w which I'm fairly certain is a seasonic focus.
