Description
The Slasher, formerly known as the Shredder, is a short-range ground tower that could have been unlocked by triumphing Nightmare Carnival as part of the Halloween 2019 Event. It could have also been bought through a limited time gamepass for 250 during Halloween 2019 Event and for 400 during Halloween 2020 Event.
The Slasher attacks by slashing and stabbing enemies with its knife. Unlike the Gladiator, which is a multi-hit tower, the Slasher is a single target tower. However, the Slasher can throw knives that pierce through enemies every few seconds that deal the same damage as its melee damage, allowing it to hit more than one enemy at later levels. The main weakness of the Slasher is its short range.

Strategy
- The Slasher can be very useful early on during the game. With good placement, it can defeat the first initial waves with few issues.
- Due to how cheap the Slasher is, it is a very efficient way to defeat hidden enemies early on in the game.
- Towers such as the Soldier may be better due to their longer range, however.
- Be aware of the Slasher's short range. Placing this tower at corners of the path is crucial to get the most out of this tower.
- The range of the main attack cannot be increased by the DJ Booth. However, it can increase the range of the Knife Throw ability.
- The Slasher's Knife Throw can help with this, as it gets a 100% range increase.
- The range increase only increases range of the Knife Throw, and not the main attack.
- The Slasher's Knife Throw is passive and you cannot activate it willingly.
- It has a four second cooldown and if there is an enemy within its extended range, it will immediately throw knives at them.
- This means that if the Slasher has not attacked an enemy in a while, it will be able to use its Knife Throw to attack the next enemy.
- Be aware that during the Slasher's Knife Throw, the Slasher will not be able to stab at enemies with its regular attack.
- While the Knife Throw damage can be boosted by damage buffs, their effectiveness is halved on them. For example, a 20% buff will only increase Knife Throw damage at Level 4 to 22 instead of 24.
- It is worth noting that the Slasher's Knife Throw can pierce through two enemies, which allows the Slasher to hit up to three enemies per knife thrown. This can be useful in hordes.
- However, for the piercing ability to work properly, placement is important; placing the Slasher at the end of a straight path is the most ideal placement.
- At Level 4, the Slasher can throw three knives per Knife Throw, but it does so in a fan-like fashion.
- Therefore, the Knife Throw is best used against a horde of enemies when the Slasher is close to the path. This allows it to hit the maximum number of enemies with just one throw.
- While the Slasher is a cheap and effective tower, later on during the game, other towers, like the Minigunner and Ranger, outperform the Slasher in terms of DPS and range.
- The Slasher has a small placement footprint meaning that it can squeeze in beside other towers quite easily, if space is a problem.
Trivia
- This is the second melee tower to be added to the game, with the first being the Gladiator.
- The Slasher was loosely inspired by the Knifer from Tower Battles.
- The Slasher (when it was called the Shredder) used to have a Knife Throw ability before the Overhaul Update, which would make the Slasher throw a piercing knife.
- With the ability, the Slasher gained a 200% range buff, its attacking speed was set to 0.7 and the ability cooldown was 25 seconds.
- It was meant to receive 500% more damage, but this was glitched and never occurred.
- The Knife Throw became a passive ability that the Slasher now gains at Level 2.
- With the ability, the Slasher gained a 200% range buff, its attacking speed was set to 0.7 and the ability cooldown was 25 seconds.
- During one of the public testing sessions before the Overhaul Update, the Slasher was renamed from Shredder to Stabber. In the Overhaul Update, this was changed, and it was instead renamed from Shredder to Slasher.
- Prior to its release, the Slasher could have been called the Chainsawer instead of the Shredder, as at the time it was still planned to wield a chainsaw at all levels.
- This makes the Slasher the tower to receive the most name changes.
- Prior to its release, the Slasher could have been called the Chainsawer instead of the Shredder, as at the time it was still planned to wield a chainsaw at all levels.
- The Slasher went under massive changes before being released.
- Its original appearance was different. Instead of having black torso and pants it had light grey torso and grey pants.
- It would wield a chainsaw at all levels, instead of only the now removed Level 5 — it would not wield knives at all.
- Its firerate would be much faster, likely similar to the firerate of towers like Minigunner. It would however, likely lose damage because of this.
- Instead of throwing knives, it would throw piercing saw glaives.
- When an enemy is hit by the Slasher's knife from its Knife Throw, it will emit blood particles.
- However, this does not occur with its normal attack, unlike the other melee towers.
