Buy a 2000 Queen Mother 100th Birthday Five Pound Crown Silver Proof Coin
from
£40.00
Born in 1900, Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon came to prominence when she married the future King George VI in 1923. She was Queen of the United Kingdom between 1936 and 1952 when her daughter, Elizabeth II, acceded to the throne. In her widowhood she was affectionately known as the Queen Mother. Her hundredth birthday was celebrated by The Royal Mint in 2000 with a range of Five Pound coins, including this silver proof example. Its reverse features a tiara-wearing left-facing portrait of Elizabeth by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. In a nod to her enduring popularity, crowds cheer behind her, some dressed in Victorian garb and others in modern clothing, indicating the eras she lived through. Her signature appears below the portrait. The Queen Mother’s image is paired with a portrait of her daughter, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by the same artist. This is the official coinage portrait in use between 1998 and 2015. Struck .925 sterling silver, this Crown coin weighs 28.28 grams and has a diameter of 38.61 millimetres. It’s offered in its original packaging from The Royal Mint with a numbered certificate of authenticity. One of 31,316 issued, fewer in this presentation.

The Queen Mother On UK Coins
Born in 1900, Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon came to prominence when she married the future King George VI in 1923. Following the abdication of Edward VIII, she acted as Queen Consort between 1936 and 1952 until her daughter, Elizabeth II, acceded to the throne. In her widowhood, she was affectionately known as the Queen Mother, and she maintained her lifelong passions for outdoor pursuits, especially fishing and horse racing.
The Queen Mother became the first person other than a reigning monarch to be featured on a UK coin during their lifetime when The Royal Mint issued a 1980 Crown coin to mark her 80th birthday. Designed by Richard Guyatt, these coins are available in silver proof and cupronickel. In 1990 the Mint marked her 90th with another Crown with a reverse design by Leslie Durbin, this time denominated at Five Pounds (available in BUnc, silver proof and gold proof). The Queen Mum reached her 100th birthday in 2000, an occasion celebrated by a further £5, created by Ian Rank-Broadley. Buy this 2000 commemorative coin in BU, silver proof, piedfort silver proof or gold proof). Her passing in 2002 was a great loss to Her Majesty the Queen and the subject of a fourth and final Five Pound Crown, designed by Avril Vaughan (see this in BU, silver proof and gold proof).

We are always proud to show off our previous customers experiences with you and what they thought of our purchasing through with Britannia Coins.
Easy to use website. Fast and easy checkout. And items dispatch next business day with tracking. Only thing is coins sometimes are not up to snuff and have marks or spots Etc. BCC does quality checks but can be improved.

Buon giorno.

Very easy to use website I think you enter the website and there's the latest "live metal prices" with an "Enter Search Item" bar at the top of the page. I like the fact it has the search feature as the home page. When you search for the item(s) it quickly shows the results, along with images of the coins or coin sets. I like that, too. The only downside with these types of businesses, is that you can't get to see a close up image of the coin and/or coin set you are buying. I feel that, because this company buys coins from collectors, etc. that they will have several items that are the same, but in varying degrees of quality and condition, and then, when your buying a 2nd hand item, it's going to be a case of pot luck on what you're going to get. And so, if it was possible, I'd love for BCC to get images of each item that you're going to buy. This is so you know what you're getting before you buy it. That said, every item I've bought from BCC has been of a very nice quality. Two of the coins were of a staggering high quality and the two sets I bought were much better than the average coin sets from eBay. I would say that BCC are the best company in the UK when it comes to used and brand new coins and coin sets. Not only that, the speed at which they get your order processed and delivered to your door is very very fast. The packaging is also on point and highly professional. Also, and one of the most important things, I really trust the Britannia Coin Company. Their prices are very fair and their items are clean and in good condition. They also have a good standing within the coin community.
