Does Singapore allow friends and family PayPal? ›

You'll need to confirm receipt of the item before the recipient can access the funds and issue a refund to you. "Friends and Family" payment type will only be available for payments sent to Personal PayPal accounts. Business accounts won't be able to receive these payment types.

With PayPal, you can send money internationally to another PayPal account just like you would domestically. Xoom, a PayPal service, offers more delivery options like cash pick up, bank account transfer, and more. Xoom also serves additional countries to send money abroad to friends and family such as India and Mexico.

Venmo is currently only supported within the U.S. If you try to sign in while abroad, you'll likely get an error message.

For Instance, USA & UK support it whereas Singapore, Dubai, India doesn't support it.

You can no longer accept friends and family payments on your Business account. However, if you'd like to receive friends and family payments, you can use or create a Personal account. If you don't use other business products with your account, you can also change your Business account to a Personal account.

Personal payments aren't covered by PayPal Purchase Protection. You can make a personal payment to anyone in the US for free if you use your bank account or PayPal Balance. If you use a debit or credit card, there will be a small charge for your payment. Go to our Fees page for more information.

When you send or request money through your personal PayPal account, you can choose whether it's a “Friends and Family” payment or a “Goods and Services” payment. Friends and Family payments are often used to pay back a friend, deliver money to family members abroad or send digital gift cards.

With Cross Border Fund Transfer, you can conveniently transfer money to your friends or families in Singapore using their PayNow registered Mobile number or VPA instantly on 24/7 basis anywhere. Registration is not required to send money via Cross-Border Fund Transfer.

International PayPal fees when receiving money

While there isn't a base fee when you receive money from your friends and family via PayPal, keep in mind that there can be additional fees paid by the sender when currency conversion is involved.

Fees for domestic transactions

If you're using PayPal Friends and Family to send money within the US, you should have fees only when you pay with your card (or if you send in different currencies)¹: Paying with PayPal balance or a bank account: no fee. With Card: 2.9% + fixed fee. With Amex Send Account: no fee.
