What does scan to confirm collection mean on eBay? ›

go to Orders >> Awaiting Postage / Print Postage label, and then click the box on the left of the item. From the Postage tab above, use the drop down menu there, if the option to mark as collected is not there, then select Mark as Paid and Mark as Dispatched. Dispatched is eBay's wording for a collected item.

You can either print off your email or show the seller the message on the app when you collect your item. The seller will scan or enter the code on the eBay app to confirm you've collected your item.

If you're collecting from an eBay Collection Point, the seller will post your item to your chosen location. Allow up to 5 business days for delivery. You'll get an email or text when your item has arrived. This will include a collection code which you'll need to bring with you when you collect your item.

If the listing offered Local Pickup, and you selected it, the QR code (with 6 digit code) is sent to you by ebay. If you did not select Local Pickup, but decided to do that after the transaction was made, the Seller can print out the Order Details, and have you sign it when you go pickup the item.

Don't give eBay sellers your personal information. Know the value of what you're buying, and don't get blinded by “too good to be true” deals. Be wary of listings that are up for sale for only a short duration, especially high-value or hard-to-get items that are heavily discounted.

By scanning the QR code, the seller marks the transaction as completed — in this case, “Picked Up.” The tracking API then generates an eBay Tracking Number with both date and time stamps, and propagates it across eBay selling tools, APIs and buyer delivery experiences.

On seller hub go to Orders for that item, click/press the item number, scroll down and you should see Sales Status and notes. There you can tick the date that you were paid and select from a dropdown box that it was collected. Thank you... all sorted!

What can I do? It is too late to refund through Ebay (as you have found out) and you won't be able to get your selling fees back. What I would do personally, and this is not 'official' Ebay advice is to relist the item and hopefully get it sold and out of the way.

If you're accepting payment by cheques, postal orders, or payment on collection, including cash, your fees are charged to your available funds or on-file payment method when checkout is completed.

In the payment options section make sure that you select cash as a payment option, and I'd put something in your description like "Cash on collection please, this will give you the opportunity to examine your item and make sure you're happy with it before paying”.
