S/U GRADING AT UCF

S/U grading is available for all undergraduate students.
You must be in good academic standing to select satisfactory/unsatisfactory (S/U) grading in eligible courses rather than a letter grade. Colleges determine the courses available for S/U grading.
If you select this grading option for a course, you’ll receive an S and course credit if you earn a C or higher. If your grade is a C- or lower, you’ll receive a U and no course credit. In either instance, your GPA will not be affected.
You may only use the S/U option four times at UCF. Courses exclusively graded on a S/U scale (e.g., internships or independent study) are not part of this total.

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE YOU SELECT S/U GRADING

Keep in mind that if you opt-in for S/U grading on a course that is currently or in the future part of your major, it will NOT count towards the requirements on your degree audit. You will need to retake the class for a letter grade. The same applies to common program prerequisites.
There are instances when you should not opt-in to S/U grading, even though it’s offered. They include courses in your major, including Common Program Prerequisites. Colleges and departments may add restrictions.
S/U grade might impact your academic and professional goals. It might affect financial aid, scholarships, honors status, graduate or professional school admission, or acceptance into restricted programs at UCF.
We strongly encourage you to consult with your academic success coach before deciding.

SELECTING S/U GRADING

When you register classes eligible for S/U grading will be indicated in the myUCF portal.
You can choose to opt into S/U grading between course registration and the semester’s add/drop/swap deadline. You may change your decision as often as you wish before the add/drop/swap deadline.
You can choose to opt out of S/U and back into a letter grade up until the semester’s withdrawal deadline.
If you opt out of the S/U grade after the add/drop deadline, you cannot opt back into S/U grading.
