Frederick Jay Rubin, also known as Rick Rubin, is an American record producer. He was born in Lido Beach, New York on March 10, 1963.
Son of Michael Rubin, a wholesaler of shoes, and Linda, a housewife. He was raised in New York’s Lido Beach. He made friends with the head of the audiovisual department at Long Beach High School while a student, and he later received some instruction in guitar technique and songwriting from him.
When a teacher helped him start The Pricks, a punk band. He played in this band with his three friends, playing at garage gigs and school performances.
In 2010, Rubin started dating former actress and model Mourielle Hurtado Herrera; their wedding date is unknown. They live in Malibu, California, and have a son named Ra (born in February 2017).

Rubin produced the album “Reign in Blood” for the band Slayer, proving that he could easily switch between rap and rock music. The famous album “American Recordings” by Johnny Cash was released in 1994. The label also distributed Cash’s following five albums.
