This can be done by either selecting 'Reset Advertising ID' under your settings (Settings > Privacy on iOS and Settings > Google > Ads on Android) or turning Limit Ad Tracking (LAT)* on and off. Toggling LAT on and off will generate a new advertising/deviceID for you in our system.

You may reset your device's Advertising Identifier, which will result in your device being disassociated from ad targeting profiles based on the Advertising Identifier in effect prior to reset. You can do this by clicking on Settings -> Privacy -> Advertising -> Reset Advertising Identifier.

Finding device ID on an Android phone

On an Android device, go to Settings. Go to About phone or About device and look for the device ID or IMEI number.

To generate a new device ID for iOS, you must factory reset your device. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Contents and Settings (the device will now effectively be restored to factory settings). Reinstall your app, open it and test the Push Pre-Permissions.

On your Android device, go to Settings. Tap Privacy > Ads. Tap Reset Advertising ID and confirm your changes.

Additionally, since the device ID is used to identify a device for ad clicks, app downloads, and in-app purchases, resetting the device ID can also allow a fraudster to make unauthorized clicks, downloads, and purchases.

Think of a UDID as your phone's social security number: It's used by developers to connect particular devices to a specific iOS Developer Account, allowing particular individuals to access and test exclusive content.

A device ID is a unique, anonymized identifier for smartphones and tablets. Commonly used in attribution, device IDs enable apps to communicate with servers, measure user interactions, and deliver personalized content and advertising.

There are two main types of device IDs: Apple uses the ID for Advertisers (IDFA) and Android uses the Google Advertiser ID (GAID). They essentially work in the same way to connect a user's actions with an ad campaign, an install, or in-app activities.

For users who do know about the setting, this new feature could actually help provide more targeted advertising for each user over time. While many have touted the “reset” feature as a way to prevent users from continuing to see ads, resetting the ID will only wipe away any past contextual behavior they might have had.

Be careful when resetting your Google advertising ID. Once you reset it, you cannot get it back. If you are playing a game that uses in-game ads, make sure you know what will happen if you reset your advertising ID.

Deleting the Advertising ID doesn't mean that you will stop seeing ads on your phone. The apps on your phone will still be able to display ads, but those won't be personalised or interest you. However, this feature is only available for those devices that are currently running on Android 12 OS.

Find your serial number, IMEI/MEID, or ICCID in Settings

Go to Settings > General and tap About. Look for the serial number. You might need to scroll down to find the IMEI/MEID, and ICCID. To paste this information into Apple registration or support forms, touch and hold the number to copy.

Resetting your iPhone will completely remove your settings and your personal info, like contacts, photos, etc. So, before you do a factory reset, try restarting your iPhone. This may help address minor software issues. If you decide to do a factory reset, you should back up your iPhone first.
